Starting my best sounding Boomboxes collection

chordeater - 2008-06-29 04:51

Hello,

this is my goal, I'm a HiFi fan, and besides the HiFi electronics stuff, I like very much the boomboxes, and I'm starting collecting the best sounding ones.

My first one was the Grundig Party Center 2000, from HiFiTom: http://stereo2go.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4236097725/m/83...991078935#4991078935

In the last weeks, I received the following boomboxes:

Telefunken HiFi Studio M1
Surely the best. It's incredible how good this unit sounds. This is now connecting all the time in my job.

Marantz System X7
Not a very good sounding unit (neither bad), but I love Marantz, and this model in particular.

Sony FH-5
This beautiful sounding machine, made in Japan (like the Marantz), weights a lot for its size, and sounds very good for my tastes. I think the position controls is very important, specially in the units with equalizer, like this. Little changes makes big differences in sound.

Philips D 8734
One of the best sounding, close to the Grundig, depending on position controls too. And its large like a cruise ship!

ITT Touring 220
I can talk about the sound, because the DIN connector doesn't work (I'm talking about this with the seller Tap Toes). The radio sound seems to be medium to good.

I'm using this adapter for units without Line Inputs:
and works perfectly (5 pin DIN to female RCAs, to connect CD or MP3 player).

Now my wish list is:

- Aiwa C-w10
- Fisher PH 490/492
- JVC PC-55 = PC-R55C
- Rotel RMP-10
- Sansui CP-7
- Sanyo M920
- Sharp System 5000H or Sharp GX-300H
- Sony zs-7
- Toshiba s90
- Uher Mini Port

I don't know if all have 220 volt. versions ...
If any of you want to sell any of this, send me a PM.

Any suggestion about good sounding units will be wellcome.

Best Regards.

Aser.

Nice stuff Chordeater! I'll have to post some pics of my stuff as soon as I get a chance to slow down long enough to do it. Sounds like Tom, I and yourself as well as some others here are in the same club as far as preferences. Big Grin

Sent PM to djyetix and Thafuzz.

I don't know any of this guys, in Spain we are over 45 millions people now! But sometimes there are incredible coincidences, so good attempt.

I'm asking wich one is the best sounding, Panasonic RX-C100 or RX CT-980 ... I only have room for one unit per brand!

Regards.

Aser.

My Sanyo M-X824 needs to be
in record mode for the inputs to work.
Maybe yours works the same way?

Thank you,
I tried this, but tape deck doesn't work ... and the result is the same. The unit is now in a shop repair.
Best regards.

Great collection Aser. Thank you for sharing/posting. Your participation is very much appreciated on the board. I do have a Fisher PH492 I would sell, needs cassette motor fixed. I use my iPod through the LineIn jacks though. It's 110/240 too. Lemme know via PM. Say, you wouldn't happen to know these fine Solderos de Espana I met in Kyrgyzstan?
