Video kill the radio star... was a legendary song of the 70´s.
Maybe PHILIPS thought about this song, when they produced this boombox?
Saturday at the flea:
A dealer was there, every part costs 2 euro fix.
I got a few partspender...
Just when i want to go, i took a last look over the things. What´s this big grip under all the trash?
Then i pulled out a big blaster, a TV-compo!
Then a short discussion follows:
He: Sorry, i can´t give it to you for 2 euros.
I: What do you want for it?
He: It costs 8 euros, because it´s a rare unit.
I: Njet, 5 euro! So you hav´nt to carry this monster home.
He: OK.
I: You have done a good deal
(In my mind >
)
So i took it home
The condition is´nt very good.
Scratches and cuts around.
The resetbutton of the tapecounter broken.
Tape seems to be the belts dead
The biggest problem is, there is no aerial television any more. So i can only connect it at home with the telecable or with a DVBT-adapterbox.
But it works:
The switches and buttons needs a big clean and many contact-spray.
The second problem is:
The telecable-UHF-band is much longer than the box can receive. So it´s impossible to get all channels...
But this box is´nt soooo big.
Here comparing with the TEC4040 and the SHARP GF555:
And with the Philips family:
@börny: If you hav´nt such units (the black ones) , go for it. I love them for the sound.
Finally a pic in front of it´s old home, the PHILIPS headquarter:
PHILIPS is simply great!
i like it! ,a very sweet looking machine.
Congratulations VS, nice find...and a great deal! Love the design...similar profile as the Pioneer SK-71/95 models (especially the radio-tuning dial).
quote:
Nice big screen Cool
Nice units and nice find!!
Congrats Roman, nice box.
Thanks boys!
But i think it will need some work...
A few more pics
Backside:
Label, for the base?
Detail from the top:
The buttons on top (right):
So it looks without receiving any station...
Gratulations on this Philips and for the cheap price you got it . I saw one listed on Ebay for 100€
.
This BB is sure heavy with its analog tv tube
.
Yes, it´s very heavy.
You should´nt carry it around to long, if you want to stay healthy...
About the price:
We "freaks" call it very cheap,of course.
But the most people would think it´s only electronic scrap!
One thing is interesting!
People in the 80´s must have had eyes in their ears! Or how could you watch TV, when shouldering the blaster....
