Hi All !
It's time to show my stuff too ^^ !
I Began to Collect Boomboxes two years ago, so my collection is a little collection for the moment, most of the models I got are classic ones (but i like them anyway
), most of them are not very clean also, because I'm a bit afraid to break or strike them while trying to wash ( but I'll do it, I just have to find some good cleaning product ^^ )
By the way, Let's go !
a 777 I found in a Flea market in Beijing during hollyday trip (nice price also ^^)
a 888 ( I think it's nearly a 555 or 525 with some additional fonction) found in the same flea market
with japanese written panel control (an exotic one)
and the others, found on ebay (came from France, Germany, and Austria)
and the last one, an outsider, I didn't buy it, my mother bought it in the beginning of the 80's as a classic radio, and I found it some years ago, hidden behind an amount of useless old stuffs, so it's not in very good condition but It's still working
(and have a nice style anyway ! )
And now I'm waiting for a Sony CFS-5L from Germany, and I'm seriously looking for a CFS-88, and (of course) for a M90 (I think everybody who don't have a M90 is looking for it ^^ )

by the way..dont be shy cleaning them on the outside..There is also a lot of help ,"how to" and "what to use" when cleaning a box, around here
Very nice!!! I agree with Kid. You have some very desirable ones. I am a multi peice fan but I sure do appreciate those classics!

Yeah, great collection and pics! Welcome aboard too, hope you have lots of fun around here.
Great starter collection. Looks like you caught the collecting bug .lol
Awesome,I love your Aiwa TRP.
thx for all your comments
I would like to know if its an easy job to remove grids on these stuff (espacially on the 9494 and the 888 cause they are really used and i would like to clean and re-paint them ) ?

I think you mean the grills..
There are models were you can remove the grills easily as they are build to do it ( like on the 777 )
On the other models your only chance is to open the whole box, locate the small pieces that hold the grills in place and try to "unlock" them. After that you can remove the grills.
But it can be a tough job!!
so the easiest way may be to open the radio and remove the speakers to get to the grills
ok, I think for the 888 it will be very tough cause the grill is a "one piece" elements and it seems to be linked to lots of elements and very hard to remove, but I'll try it on the 9494 , beacause I'm thinking in putting new speakers on this one. In fact it seems that the amplifier is very powerful but speakers can't handle it (especially basses, trebles and medium are good, but basses saturate easily) so I will remove speakers anyway to put new one, I just have to find some good ones which fit
hi there Crass, welcome
you need to take them apart, its scary at first but then it becomes easy (very easy) and fun (lots of fun).
the only difficult part is the fear, once you get over that, its a walk in the park.
you need to buy a long screwdriver,
like this, but its proably better to buy one in a shop, so you can see what your buying.
i always sellotape the screws onto the box, next to the hole they go in, so i dont forget where they go.
try it!
WOW Crasse, fine collection!
The 777, Aiwa and M70 are beauties.
great collection crasse welcome aboard, 1 of the best things to clean boomers is a little fairy liquid and warm water.
In 2 years you will probbly not be able to count youre boomers let alone clean them, this is a verry adictive hobby enjoy

crasse, great collection. That little sony CFS-65L sounds better than it looks and feels like it's well built, I was pleasantly surprised when I found mine.
Thanks Again for all your comments and advices
for the 777 price it was around 45/50 euros (500 yuan, but it was possible to get it even cheaper, I just didn't bargain enough XD i was to excited !! )and I don't remember for the 888 but it was even cheaper.
from the French ebay I bought the Aiwa ( and It was in Clamart (city where I live) also, so I won the bid on it and just picked it Up after a 10 minutes walk in the neighboorhood XD)
and very nice price also (30 euros) and the philips one also came from the french bay.
The 9191 came from Austria, and the other ones from Germany.
MasterBlaster you're Right, the CFS-65L sounds pretty good for its size (sony quality
), that's why i'm looking for bigger Sony ones (like the Cfs-77, cfs-99 and the wonderful CFS-88, I don't know how it sounds, but I'm found of the design)And that's strange cause the sony ones are not very popular, I didn't see so many of them on ebay, and when there is one, bidding don't go very high on it.
a new incomer today !
a Sony CFS-5L, I definitely love this style, not huge, weird design (same style as the sharp555/888) but very classy, sound pretty loud also (just need some works, cause the right channel is a bit weaker than the left one, I hope the contact cleaner will help, I already had this kind of problem on the 777 and the contact cleaner solve it ^^ )
here it is !
thats a sweet sony ,i just wish they would have placed the cassette deck between the speakers it would look wicked then, but still very nice i like it.
Thats not a beginner's collection.
Nice stuff Crasse, but once you have a 777, and M70 (in sweet condish by the way!!) you're official!
You have some great boomers! Welcome and thanks for posting your pics - they are fun to see!
