My find this morning at Goodwill.

killdamon - 2009-01-23 09:56

I found this little JVC PC-V77 this morning at goodwill for $ 1.99 ! There was no power cord but i have an extra one here. Everything works + the tapes decks. She sounds fricking pretty Awesome ! Shes really dirty, so i need to get to cleanin' . Perhaps not the best boombox around but for the price and the sound quality + its a 35 watter, it can't be beat. Smile

Too bad no led meters Frown

But uh ohhh, the battery compartment, YIKES !

The tape deck volume is way too low. Anyone have a tune up schematic for it ? What potentiometer's are the ones to turn up the juice from the tape decks ?
Also, whats the best way and chemical to clean up that battery acid ?

Argh, this batteries brings back bad memories! Eek

But it´s a nice modern box.
Give it a good clean up, new antenna and it will look nice. Wink

The batteriestorage of my SILVER, i cleaned with soap-water. Be careful no water comes inside!
But the corrosion could be more worse. Wink

Also try cleaning the heads, maybe it´s enough.

For this price - good score! Smile

O DaaaaaM, you had a good toasty batt in that box !

Yea, i will be cleanin' the heads and pinch rollers and everything else and D5 the controls when i get 'er opened up. Will post pics as i go. Smile

Congratulations, a very nice find. This model isn't the loudest, but it does have excellent quality sound, and warm, rich, deep bass. It should clean up nicely. Smile

Heres the insides:

killdamon - 2009-01-26 17:50

Got er cleaned up the best i could.

killdamon - 2009-01-26 17:59

I need to find something to take all the white paint scuffs off.
I had to discard one of the battery springs cause of the corrosion half of it fell apart when i touched it.

Hey, i have a few boxes i need to sell photoed here:

The bottom left is a prosonic PQR-9960( one of many names for this unit), bottom right another super nice Prosonic PST-2750, and on top of that a sanyo M9880K with original service manual. My Pana. rx5150 no for sale.

Nice. I came across another JVC on craigslist that looked really close to ours but it had a cd player on top and the person only wanted $10 for it, but it was 25 miles on the other end of town or i would have went to have a look, it was gone within a couple days. Oh well. I wish i could get a hold of the one i have been after for many moons and that has remained elusive all this time, and thats the Sanyo MX650 Frown
I keep this photo tucked under me pillow at night:

You did a good job cleaning up the V77.
Looks great ! Big Grin Nod Yes
Is that big Prosonic under your V77 in the photo of all you boomboxes for sale or perhaps a trade Wink

That's a really nice find actually. It may not be "old school" loud but we don't always want to use excessive volume (depending on our mood). The fact that it has a line-in would have sold it to me Big Grin .

By the way speaking of loud your Sanyo M9880K certainly qualifies!I love its bright "old school" highs!Bass on that one though tight is not real full. It's a great box for rock!If you ever have a chance to scan the manual,I'd be interested in a copy Smile .

My avatar is a $9.00 find at Goodwill! Smile

It's just a Panny 620 with line in! Perfect for casual listening!

Love cheap boxes Big Grin

Theres another modern box i have and its the Philips AZ2025 : http://www.amazon.com/Philips-...igital/dp/B00004U8G4

The one i have is beat up good, and the cd lid is missing so no playing cd's,the tape works though, but man this box sounds awesome ! great bass and treble, dynamic bass boost, virtual surround sound. Mine is in the garage. If you guys have a chance to pick one up, you won't be disappointed. Theres only 1 i could find right now that is listed on craigslist/Oklahoma for 75.00 . Phillips has another new model that i have heard sounds awesome and it has a ipod docking station and a usb slot for flash mem sticks. I might look in to picking one of those up.

I would trade both prosonics and the sanyo 9880 for a nice clean Sanyo m650 Smile
