father-in-law came back from a carboot with this - got on the old blower (phone) while walking around and said is a sharp gf 525 for £12 any good ?  said it was clean and looked after - now he isn't in to boxes and i was nicely surprised when he showed me this !

yess..i like the 525,i used to have one but the cassette decks had gave up on it, i did'nt have the parts to fix it so i sold it,mine was a minter with the origonal user manual..they sound pretty good,not a bass monster but they can go way loud with plenty of gadgets and lights..

Friends/family buying from car boots is a good idea but you never quite know what you're gonna get. I once had a VZ2000 after a mate rang me up and said he had spotted a portable Sharp record player at a car boot for £8, so I told him to get it but it turned out to be trashed and barely working.

Still, it's worth the risk as we can see from your 525 Bendy'! Very good score.

Why do the speakers not line up with the chrome trim on these? - it bugs me.

Hey RR, I think the 555 is fairly good sounding and built well, it's just it's looks that let it down for me. I guess it depends on what it's compared against, looking at your avatar I guess the 555's got no chance!

well done bendy bus!i had one mine was near mint too-traded it with superflyguy it seems like an age ago now lol-all i have near its size etc now is the 555 piece of crap!!!!!still,theres a slim chance i might be picking up a trk8600 hitachi for 35 quid-just waiting to hear back from the owner

sound is good but not as bassy as a 680 or and deep load as a M70 - 9494 has a better sound - but over all it's not bad, but not as good as you think it should be !

Okay... It sounds close to the 555's sound. But then again, I would really have to hear one to really know. THANKS!
