JVC RC-N5... the hidden boombox

So it looks like a radio, with the tuner display central between the speaker...

But one slide and wahey a cassette deck!

The clearances are tight, there's no more than 2mm between each side of the tape drawer and the main body, so a bunch of controls have stealthily been placed on the rear of the unit.

If you snap the side bits off are you left with a walkman?

markhulkis - 2011-12-13 06:20

Lol, sadly no- that would be awesome though, a docking walkman, not seen one of those for 20 years, back in the days when Asda sold three deck Schneider boomboxes

I thought i'd post this one first from my collection as it always makes people laugh. I used to be a teacher and i'd use my collection in school on a regular basis, this one was great for starting design projects, making the class think about why most objects are designed with all of the controls on the top and front.

wahey a cassette deck - Never seen this model before

What 'other' model's do You have that are 'different'!!?

Curious in This JVC RC-N5 - Where is the tuning ,,, Knob?

Guessing that with the both sections together that you still have access to the controls in back

Huh, been on here one day and I get called a knob... Oh I see. Yeah it's on the left side along with the waveband selector and the vol etc are in that cut-out in the back. A really nice design. My other interesting boombox is the Panasonic TR1200G, with a built in 10" b&w telly. I've only got a few stereos at the mo, I have a big video game collection, that takes up as much space as the mrs will allow really
