Yeah. I have nothing against the german`s, as, i have had a lot of good transactions, but, you`ll find, when an auction say`s germany only, that`s what it means.

When it says Germany Only, I email them anyway. Half the time they agree to ship to me (I'm in the US).
If I'm willing to pay the high shipping cost, and I'm a verified member, why not?

E-mail first. The best policy.

This is the only one on ebay Germany that ended recently.
Nice one!
chris69 - 2012-01-14 14:52
Versand nach: Nord- und Südamerika, Europa, Asien, Australien
He states that he ships to North America so what you can do is file a Seller Non-Performance complaint with ebay and he is obligated to ship to you since he stated he ships to North America.
driptip - 2012-01-14 15:08
i think he has a case, the radio is in amazing condition, man!!
and cheap too, a 9696 in this condition in the usa will sell for at least 500 usd.

With regards to Ebay taking a higher fee if the shipping cost is higher, that is true, but if that overseas buyer had not won your box, you wouldn't have received as high of a price. That is why I always sell worldwide, because more bidders = higher ending value.

Because they are too lazy to learn how to fill out the necessary customs forms?
How should I know? I don't really care --- I don't try to copy what the average American does. Why limit myself to such low standards?
600+ feedback and never limited my sales to US only, except for items I suspected might cause customs problems such as knives, silver coins, etc.
Personally I think the risk is worth it, but to each his own.
ke4mcl - 2012-01-15 09:23
as an ebay seller who has had to deal with this very same situation i have to chime in.
if the seller clearly states in his auction where he will and will not ship to, why must self righteous bidders force themselves upon the seller with utter disregard for the terms of sale? yes, this means you guys that think you deserve to be an exception to the sellers rules.
whatever the sellers reasons for not shipping somewhere its their item and their business.
i have had to deal with this many times because people dont read and then expect preferential treatment. the worst offenders i have dealt with have been the guys that call themselves "our brothers to the north". i will not sell to canada regardless of how much more they are willing to pay. why? because up until recently all the nickel and diming and complaining i have ever gotten about sales have been from canadian buyers. easy solution, no more sales to canada. done deal. i had to employ ebays geographic filters to stop it because canadians wouldn't respect the TOS and i'd always be getting the same "will you ship to me" questions.
other reasons for not shipping to other countries...
some countries are well known for lost mail, italy for example.
paypal wont protect sellers shipping to certain countries.
finally, paperwork. its my right to be lazy if i wish.
i do sell internationally but mainly to the japanese. i have had excellent transactions with the japanese. all high dollar items in the plus $1k range. everything negotiated upfront and no problems in the end.
buyers, read the terms of sale and quit being pushy. it will make for happy transactions for everybody.
reli - 2012-01-15 09:39
I don't know what you mean by being "pushy", but I simply send an email saying something like "Are you willing to ship to the USA? I know the shipping price would be high, but I am familiar with what it would cost, and I am willing to pay it." ------ Short and to the point, and not being pushy at all. And like I say, at least half of the people I ask agree to ship to me, even though their auction said no shipping to USA. So it's worth a shot.
And as for Canadians being cheapskates? You can't stereotype an entire country like that. Why not simply block the specific bidders who have given you trouble?
ke4mcl - 2012-01-15 17:36
if you ever visit south beach in miami you will run into a very interesting thing at all dining establishments, gratuity is included. ask ANY server to tell you how they feel about canadians and if they are honest you will find out many colorful reasons why an entire city has added gratuity to checks.
regardless.
some of you are hammering sellers who dont want to ship to you. read the terms of sale and respect the sellers wishes and quit griping about not getting special treatment.
claret.badger - 2012-01-15 18:23
and if that seller is to dumbass to click the BLOCK international seller
or state DOMESTIC ship only?
damn some people are arguementative for the sake of their own ignorance
reli - 2012-01-15 18:48
What percentage of Miami tourists are Canadian? I doubt more than 5%. The rest are probably Americans from other states, and people from other countries as well. So I doubt Miami's restaurants created their policies just because of Canadians.
I used to wait tables at a ski resort, and I don't recall anyone describing Canadians as low-tipping. People from Central/South America and Europe were usually described that way.

Bit Off Topic..but my bro goes to the usa every year on holiday to orlando with his family, and he says he's never met nicer folk,he said the people are really nice and friendly,in the diners he says they look after you and make you feel important and at home where ever you go,they went to a diner and his daughter had a small problem with her food last year and mentioned it to a waitress, the manager personally went to their table and personally apologised and insisted that she has a new meal and for free, one night they went out for a drive because it was a nice warm night, they drove down this highway and came across like this modded car meet with modified cars and trucks, they got out and had a walk round and my brother said you could just walk up to guys and they fire their cars up and let you sit in them, and they stand around chatting to you,my bro absolutely loves usa,and he hates it when he has to come home, you dont get any of the service over here like you do in the u.s..
the service and general people in uk wont speak to you like that,we are all abit reserved, and england is all about money, every business just wants to make asmuch money out of you as possible and treat you like crap,uk is one of the most dirtiest, expensive country to live in the world,we get taxed to hell, the weather is cronic for 11 months of the year, shipping stuff is expensive,we have to pay import tax on anything we buy from abroad..thats why thousands of people are emergrating every year, because they are sick of getting ripped off..
reli - 2012-01-15 19:49
Here in America, tips account for 70-90% of a waiter's pay, so they tend to treat customers well
bison - 2012-01-15 21:22
^^i would move to the states tommorrow,i know three people that have left manchester for the states,
who wouldnt want to get out of the uk,
i know people that have emigrated to australia too.
this country needs a big shake up/kick up the a~@se
reli - 2012-01-15 22:16
People say UK = shitty weather, how shitty is it really? Is it like Seattle where there's only 2 months of solid sun (August/September)? I don't think that's all that bad. You want bad weather, try Rochester NY, or Montgomery AL.
claret.badger - 2012-01-16 03:08
UK weather is fine - it's an exageration about the shittiness
we English like to moan - and moaning about the weather is a national past time
We have SEASONS - sometimes they drag on longer than they should so it's cold in May or Warm in October but I like that un predictability.
Rain is nice and necessay - it snows sometimes - and our infrastructure cannot deal with it - so we moan some more
As Bill Hicks said - why do LA residents love it being "Hot and sunny all the time" only "lizards feel that way about the weather"
I, by the way am emigrating to Texas - and am NOT looking forward to triple digit summer drouts

canadians account for a major portion of the tourism in miami during our off season. i didnt create the included tip rule, the restaurant owners did at the request of its employees that were getting shorted on tips. dont get mad at me, get mad at the people that caused the stereotype to be created.
this is a city of 5 million. it takes plenty for an industry wide practice to be created.
i've been selling on ebay since about 1995. i've sold stuff all over the world and the country i consistently had problems with is canada. the problems were usually piddly in nature. for example shipping was quoted as flat rate in the auction. buyer won and paid, item shipped. buyer wants refund of $1.35 difference on shipping or some other nonsense. buyer gets angry because he was "ripped off on shipping" despite it was quoted as flat rate mind you. this kind of nonsense happened many times till i got fed up and decided to just not sell to canada. problem solved.
ultimately somebody didn't respect the sellers TOS and is upset they aren't getting their way. if the buyer stated were he wont ship to and you bid anyways you are basically just bullying the guy to have your way. how is that civilized?
