So I got a pretty scruffy but all working 575 to pinch the power supply from for my GF9000 refurb from Chris/Deliverance.  After a good scrub it was sounding pretty good so I decided instead of completely stripping it for parts it deserved a bit of TLC even if it was to end up a battery only box. Though part of this compassion for saving the box came because I was waiting for some filler for the 9000 and was bored on Sunday afternoon!

So I stripped it down and resprayed the whole bodywork, knocked the dents out of the grills and resprayed them, and painted the speakers (sorry davebush!) and hey presto...

Chrome on the switches and slider is a bit corroded so did consider respraying them a contrasting champagne gold metallic (like a Sanyo M7900)...what do you reckon...glitzy but not original or keep original but a bit cruddy?

Believe it or not I'm actually a dab hand at the old water colours ...but I think that job might be a bit beyond my meagre talents!...unless of course you wanted it to look really bad!!!

Cheers mate, I don't think the photo shows the paint work that well either...its gone on really well and is a touch darker and a bit more shiny than the original so I reckon livens it up a little.  Its just a shame the chromes a bit ropey

well that would be the ideal, then I'd have two fully working boxes!!   out of the two the 9000 is the most impressive so I think deserves the power supply, the 575 will have to put up with being battery only but if someone does have a scrap 9000 that they have a power supply from I'd gladly pay for it as it would save me what looks like a bit of a nightmare job of adapting the 575 power supply to fit in the 9000 (it fits in a completely different way round!)

ring sharp on 0844 55 72 510  ,   stock number 5031-6869-7427-4  is the tranny for a gf-9000 apparently available .

ooh interesting!...currently at work so I've found the website for that number and emailed the query to check as it seems too easy!!  Shall let you know what happens, thanks for the tip!

To make a homebrewed PCB for the power supply is not so hard, I would say it's easy, just in case you will want to make it.

Yeah, it sounds like a challenge, but I saw your pictures of the copper tubes for the screw posts - your hands in the right place.
