Welcome VZ20000 here is a service manual for this

wonderful machine!

Not long ago i dissassembled the same box to clean it and fix it.

Here is where you have to start.

You can check both links 1st for downloading the service manual

and  2nd one for the missing sliders!

I just glued my old belt to chek the turntable : it works but i discovered that the right speaker doesn't work very well. in fact, when i slide the balance (or lightlypush on it )the right speaker works .... but in the middle position only sound at left....maybe a little problem whith a connection?? do you have tips to check  or repair this kind ofg problems???

I really know now that i've to open the MONSTER!

OTHERWISE, HOW DO YOU PROCESS TO CLEAN THE DUST INSIDE THE BOOMBX,,? CAN I BLOW IT SLOWLY WITH COMPRESSED AIR OR SUCK UP,,,??

THANKS !

vz20000 - 2012-12-26 03:13

i'm looking for A GOOD LINK TO BUY THE 2 STYLUS AND A TURNTABLE BELT (find some on ebay but not really sure of those stuff)

THANKS GUYS!

samovar - 2012-12-26 03:54

i strongly recommend that you ask deech and Northerner, as recently they have both opened and cleaned the VZ2000. send them a pm via the Dialogue section of the site. They are great members here and very helpful.

i am no good at reparations, so i can't give any suggestions--but i do write/speak french

(je conseille que tu écris un message soit à deech soit à Northerner -voir la section  "Dialogue" du site. Récemment ils ont ouvert et nettoyé le VZ2000. Les deux sont super et ils t'aideront bien volentier)

lav.loo - 2012-12-26 05:00

your english is fine VZ20000, good luck with your vz and welcome to this great place

deech - 2012-12-26 07:11

Well here we are !

First of all I would highly recommend that you take all the unit apart

and clean it thoroughly with soap in hot water some wettex sponge would be a nice idea too,

i wouldnt recommend alcohol.

Blowing or sucking the dust is not efficient enough as some parts

would need more detailed cleaning.

After you do all the cleaning you would have to start spraying some contact cleaner

(A link to find one is below)

on all contacts and leave to dry.

That must be enough to solve the problem with the right speaker as this is a problem

due to years of non use and dust collecting etc.

Please note that i dont know the condition of your unit and i m just explaining from my own experience with this machine!

What i suggest is follow the instructions as shown in the service manual which

is very helpful and explains it all on how to disassemble the unit step by step.

If you cant see it from your pc then print it to refer at all times.

Now when you do a step take some pics or a video which will help you to

reassemble the unit.

What is important is that you must have your mind focused on what you do!!

If you follow those instructions then everything will be easy!

The Sharp VZ-2000 was among the first units i  dissasembled and i was afraid of it

also because of its monster size but i made the decision to get into it
as i wanted it to be in a fully working order again!!!!

Member Northerner did a great job also recently

so his advise would be aslo very

helpful for you!

Sorry too busy throwing up to help

vz20000 - 2012-12-27 03:19

A LITTLE PICTURES IS BETTER THAN ANY SPEECH;;;;

I THINK MY PROBLEM COME FROM THIS S##T!!!

TRIED THE CONTACT CLEANER;TRIED DRY AIR;TRIED TO CLEAN WITH ABRASIVES;

NOTHING WORKS....THE ONLY WAY TO GET SOUND IS TO FIDDLE THE KNOB ;;;

ANOTHER THING I OBSERVED IS THAT THE LEFT SPEAKER IS LESS STRONG THAN THE RIGHT ONE (when its ok to work of course!)

SOME ONE COULD TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE THE BOARD WHERE THOSE FADERS ARE( cant see under .....)

THANKS GUYS!

NIGHTMARE FADER

WHERE IS THE CONTACT

northerner - 2012-12-27 12:48

Not sure I would have used abrasive on a slider, not sure they're tough enough for that. You might want to take out the slider and check the little metal feelers that make contact with the strip as sometimes they break off.

vz20000 - 2012-12-28 00:48

i'm sure your way is the best but i can't take it out!  how can i process???? i can't have no acces under to unwelded ....

vz20000 - 2012-12-28 10:38

MY POWER BUTTON; broken or not broken???!!

Un Français... Super!!!

So, yes... One slider is at 5€... You can let me know if you are interested, and if you are... how many you might want, okay?

Also, if you finally manage to remove the circuit board that holds the volume controls... and you manage to fix the brushes (for I like that it will most likely be the brushes that are loose/unfasten), we will all be happy for you!!!!! If not, I do think I have volume controls for you!

Also, how bad are your old sliders... totally broken? Or are they fixable!

Keep us posted!

PS: Where are you at in France? I am at Montaille near Le Mans (just came back from 5 years in Ireland).

vz20000 - 2012-12-30 06:39

my sliders are all totaly broken ( only one big and one small alive!) so i'm okay for a complete set but before buying it i would like to repair my speakers problem; i'm in TOULON.

I recover former tenant of the apartment I occupy, give it to me not knowing what to do with...! i was very happy because i'd never seen a turnable with two stylus, and autorevers and repeat fonction...!!!

about the circuit board, do you know how remove it? i dont find the solution ; removed all the screws but it still impossible to be removed....

some pics to see my VZ...

deliverance - 2012-12-30 06:55

you need to split the casings ,   open the cassette door you dont need to remove all the screws on the back,  there is a screw under the tuning knob also one screw under each speaker at the front that need to be removed  then the front will come away also be careful not to break the speaker conections under each speaker.

vz20000 - 2012-12-30 07:18

HI DELIVRANCE;

MY PROBLEM IS NOT THAT I CANT OPEN THE VZ (this work is done, turntable remover, speakers are opened)

but i cant remove the circuit board where all the sliders are weld.......

deliverance - 2012-12-30 07:32

the board can only be screwed in or clipped in, remove all the plugs and such then see were you stand .

vz20000 - 2012-12-30 08:59

i'm gonna try /again and again and again....! thanks!

bredgeo - 2012-12-30 14:18

Hey Pierre,

Yeah... If you got it all open (getting the screwunder the dial knob and under the speakersand stuff)... you have her ope, then that board should be as easy as heck  to unmount... I opened and cleaned mine a long time ago... so I cannot remeber the details......sorry!

This siad... back to yoursliders, when you have 5minutes to show me your sliders via some pics, I will let you know what can be fixed and what cannot.

So, take a few pics of ALL thesliders you have (even the onesthat might be missing parts) and post them here.

Later!

Oh, and have a good new years... ALL OF YOU!

bredgeo - 2012-12-30 14:20

Toulon... most likely a better place then Le Mans!!!!!

And you should thank your ex-tenant for the VZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

vz20000 - 2013-01-03 13:20

HI GUys

just wanna wish you all a very happy new year, full of nice and shinny bbox!

baddboybill - 2013-01-04 10:43

I suggest if your not sure how to use soldering iron not to remove slider. I would find a technician in your area to repair bad slider. They are repairable but you definitely don't want to crack anything....

mnt - 2013-01-27 08:44

anyone know how to adjust speed on a record player? becouse it seems like my VZ3000

plays vinyl too fast

schmack - 2013-01-27 10:23

Hy guys,

I have a similar problem, cant remove the frame. Got everything unscrewed (I guess) and it seems very loose. But the right side seems to be stuck. And i dont want to pull to hard.

Is there any trick or a secret screw?

Thanks in advance,

Schmack

Hey... If it is playing to fast, you will have to see if the belt is moved up to the top of the head of the motor... If it is the case... Either your belt is old and getting loose, thus moved up and is now on a wider part of the motor head... or the motor with time, the motor has sightly inclined towards the turn table and in this case the belt is moving up, straighten the motor back up and. In both those cases, you might want to change your belts.

BUT, the thing that it might be is even more simple... on those VZ models 2500, 2000, 3000, 3500 and others, there is an automatic speed selector... see if it is not put on 45rpm only. DO THIS FIRST!

Good luck!

mekaindy - 2013-05-19 04:21

Hi all, really need some help on this one, I have managed to spend 6 hours opening the vz 2000 up and cleaning it, but I need to find somewhere that sells cassette rubber drive belts, as im having no luck at all, so if someone out there somewhere knows of a place where I can buy some, please let me know. Thankyou

baddboybill - 2013-08-19 09:48

Where are you located? Here in the states I get them from here.. http://www.studiosoundelectronics.com/belts.htm#SQ

danielle - 2013-08-19 09:56

Hi we are located in the United Kingdom, London. Thankyou for getting back to us so quickly.

baddboybill - 2013-08-19 10:05

Well someone from United Kingdom needs to chime in for ya. Sorry I couldn't help!

danielle - 2013-08-19 10:14

Hi thanx for your help anyway, I don't suppose you know the part number of the cassette rubber drivebelts that we need do you?

northerner - 2013-08-19 10:51

Malvern Audio sells selection packs via eBay uk cheaply. I've bought from them several times. Just get a selection then put on the one that best fits

danielle - 2013-08-19 11:22

Hiya, thanx for the response, ive bought a selection pack from ebay before and they have never had the flat belts in them, and I need the flat belt as this is the main belt for the cassette which is roughly 5mm wide. Thanx

northerner - 2013-08-19 11:35

Well you can buy the packs of flats ones there too

baddboybill - 2013-08-19 11:35

Here is size belt guide for most units out there. http://russellind.com/client/d...ad/PRB_Belt_XRef.pdf
