Declaration

I was going to log into my Stereo2Go account and subject someone to some scolding over the lack of rear-view photographs -- complementing these excellent, all-frontal, winter-background images -- of the Sanyo M-4200LU, a portable stereo that I don't recall ever seeing. But then I took a look at the message header for the pix-posting member's ID and saw that this message was first posted in February 2013: almost three years ago as of today! A bit late to "now, now" someone over years-ago naughtiness, methinks .

The Query

Besides, what would I tell BlasterFan Jens (if he's still a 'site member)? That friend Jens should have taken at least two rear-cabin photos, one of which clearly shows the rear data plate and its power-usage value (maybe 20 watts, maybe 120 watts )? That Jens should have also taken a good photo' of the right side to showcase the presumed fine-tuning knob?

Appreciation

But, again, why bother chiding? This is still a pretty good (longwave-tuning) example of the "Golden Age" of boomboxes. Are the volume- and tone-control knobs not raised-platform, knurled-top attractions with veritably speedometer-like markings? (100 miles an hour !) Does one not nod in interest at the well-offset PAUSE lever? Has anyone felt that the black, tapered ends of the carry handle are reminiscent of a bullet train's profile?

Conclusion

Well, have a good look here -- and, if you've actually got one of these Sanyos, enjoy the 'box: tape-playing, radio-tuning and all!

I have one of these, my son and i rescued it from a shop where it was languishing on a shelf in horrendous condition. I had passed it by so many times as the condition was so bad and it was a tone only box. My son spotted it one day and was concerned it may end up being thrown out, he convinced me to help him repair it and he bought it with his own money.

Never has so much love and attention gone into such a mediocre box, we did almost everything you could imagine. It now works 100%, looks cosmetically as good as it was possible to make it and holds lots of good memories for us

Old post yes but there is not much out there on this one

yes seems at first a bland box then I started noticing the details

The handle the huge mic covers the 100 level marks(100 miles an hour) and more looks like they were trying to do something different

the reason I ask is a Russian collector is asking can I find him one here in Japan so I searched it only finding a few posts in Russian and this seems a rare box for whatever reason

T-STER Great story yes the history is so important

And your son may of helped you pick up a rare and desirable box (well in Russia)
