Some very cool Vintage Retro Style boomboxes in my collection. All three were stored new in their original boxes.

I had one of those MacDonald Instruments boxes before but not sure if it was the same box.  I sold it but I remember that it sounded great and was very well built.  Doesn't MacDonald Instruments mainly make/made calculators and such?  I thought it was weird seeing a boombox with their name on it.

They are truely retro. Elegant styling.

Thanks for posting these machines up. As I understood it; Superscope were a California design firm that did the styling and specified what they wanted to go inside then sub-contracted the manufacture to Marantz and Sony but i did not know there were other manufacturers as well. I have a couple of Marantz boxes that are beautifully made and sound much bigger than they are which is testimony to great design.
