well guys here goes..... the other week i put an ad in my local mini market for ghetto blasters 80's tape recorders, the latter being for the older folk who may not have heard the term ghetto blaster anyway this morning i got a call from a bloke saying he may have something i may be interested in.

i asked him what he had and told him i was near skint but could manage a cheapy

to my surprise he said he did'nt expect much for an old radio and just wanted to pass it on.

i eagerly asked him the make and model and he said it was a sharp gf575 on inspection.

anyway after further conversation it turns out he lives only a mile or so away from me he also said he could deliver to my place this afternoon if i was available, too right i was available lol anyway i gave him my adress and we agreed a time of 1pm.

so in a nutshell the guy turns up and guessing he was about 65 years old, which is always good.

he brings in the box which looked amazing condition wise, plugs it in and we go through it all and everything works brilliantly.

he said he bought it new in 82 and it had been dry stored for a while and needed a new home so after a little chat i asked how much he wanted, he said £20 would do

i always have my bill money aside but today i used some for a good cause, my pleasure so.....a minty fully working 575 with only one owner from new for £20, not bad eh.

cheers AE Stereo, i know it's very hard to believe but it just shows these things can happen. i almost give up with boxes due to lack of funds which does dishearten you when your in this game anyway if i never score a dream like this again i will never forget this one. just to add it weighs a ton and sounds great, which i am very surprised about

cheers for the comments guys Traveler mine is the 575E, it has dolby but no loudness function. i would of preffered it the other way round tbh, i mean who uses dolby? it's gotta be the crappest feature ever

The rear of the GF-575 shows a set of "speaker grills" as well. Is the speaker chamber sealed inside from the rest of the body, to have better Bass response?
