Thanks Lav.
I dont mind for the battery cover
so much but if anyone has a parts box
and has this part can message me.
I hope to find the on-off button inside her .
This beauty to look at is made in Holland too
not from Singapore like the other one i got.
lav.loo - 2013-04-03 13:49
made in holland eh, hmm that's different for sure, philips seemed to have their audio products made all over the world austria, singapore, malaysia, holland, there could be more too.
anyway congrats once again Deech great score

nice box but not such a great score, i don't think it's worth more than 10 euros when mint conditions...

that is a sweet find Deech. Along with the Aiwa 880, these boxes were a very avant garde design for their time considering street cred and all.
10 Euro is a steal in my books......

I just picked up the Magnavox version a couple weeks ago for $20 usd. Complete and playing but tape deck counter does not work and sometimes you gotta wiggle the power button to get it to play tapes. Probably needs a shot of electrical contact cleaner.
I'd say if it has not been taken apart before then chances are power button is inside.
Once inside be warned there's a lot of short wires and it's not fun to work on.
If you open it up and need room to work the wires pictured by the speaker can be pulled out and pushed back in, just do it gently not to break anything. There is also a clip holding wires down by the speaker.

funny how nobody here tells about how much they paid for their boom box
It's always how * little * they paid for how much box

I consider 10 euros for this box
and for this condition a respectable sum of money.
Except from the looks which btw are some of the best
for a bbox, this box doesnt get loud.
When i bought my first one about a year ago i was disappointed
with the inconsistency of the sound that came out from those
woofers.

You must have had a bad One from the beginning
Replacing the outboard little woofer's with ( closed back Midrange speakers )
leaving the tweeters alone & maybe or not using the same x-over.
Changing the center woofer to a newer more efficient model - this cabinetry has the ability to sound Terrific given it's limitation's, of amplifier power

What about the sound of it with original speakers on Traveler?
Never opened one tbh but i m willing to take a chance on this one
as the first one was in fully working condition from the beggining.

Magnavox D8443 2x5inch 1x8inch 2xtweeters sounds like this should sound like
- somewhat less than a Sanyo M-X960K Big Ben ( super woofer ) & has a similar speaker layout
Original Speakers are OLD and can deteriorate in time along with the sound
New speakers are NEW and sound Much better
New speakers in a Old boombox makes a old boombox sound like NEW again
The real fun is; finding as near as possible a, better efficiency Speaker to give more sound from the battery powered boombox.
Anybody can slap in a pair of (car speakers) to a boombox and it may sound better I prefer searching for component or individual speaker's for each boombox and Not installing any 'car speakers'
Open your's up and you should discover just how easy this model is, to work on in

Sounds interesting Traveler i might do this mod with the speakers
to this one.
You gave me some info to start with.
Didnt know you mod speakers to your boxes.
I have to say i prefer the originals but if its for sound quality
and a box that you can mess with it then it must be fun!

The satisfaction is in Hearing the Difference between old and New
Yes only Modified Boombox's are here, Most with replaced different speakers - Sorry NO Chrome dust cap for the purist's out there desiring the original look, none are for sale.
As nobody want's a modified boombox.
