Thought you might like to see one of these. Its a Wynford Hall TMC 5500 and dates to the early 1970's.  In the USA these were branded  as Weltons, this model being a little more rare than the round "Space ball" radios commonly seen by Weltron. It fits just about all the boombox criteria. AM/FM radio with SW bands. Tape player, its portable so it has a carry handle and runs AC or DC.  This model has an eerie resemblance to a robot head- I'm sure that's not just my impression.  The last one of these to sell on e-bay sold for just over $400 so that's where my is heading in the next while.

Looks like a space helmet! very cool. Often wondered, can you record to an 8 track cartridge? If not you're limited to what music you can play as I don't imagine there's an input for a mp3 player! I'll bet these cost a small fortune in the 70s

With this machine you can not record and it has not inputs for mp3. At the time as now you could/can buy blank tapes and record your own just like on cassette on other home machines.
