Though I've held off getting one of these,I might go ahead and spring.A friend of mine got an i931 for his daughter as a surprise birthday present. He says every young person should have a portable stereo instead of always using headphones.I have to wonder if she really prefers it and if most young people these days feel the same way.The box looks better in person than in pictures. Also surprisingly I found it to be a decent weight. No one at their house could figure out how to use its menu features and buttons.Though I don't feel this is very intuitively designed on the box,I eventually found it to work well enough.

As for sound,I was pretty happy with it.The bass is acceptable to me probably because I'm usually not a bass freak. Most importantly the highs are really nice and it will go pretty loud ("blast").I'm more convinced now that this is a worthy attempt by Lasonic to bring back the "blaster".When I visit my friend again I'll try to spend more time with it playing some of the music I'm familiar with. The Lasonic i931 has a unique look and feel compared to the other available devices these days.I hope this starts an industry trend and isn't merely a production anomaly.

Oh-only 120V, so if someone wants to import to say Australia or the UK, a step-down transformer would be needed.

The i931 has a DC input, so a *decent* 12V dc adapter will do the job nicely.
Not one of those cheapies from Argos, you'll need something like this, from Eurobatteries to cope with the power consumption of the i931 (which the manual says is 60W max). The PSU in my link is 12V @ 5000mAh, which the electronically minded amongst us will have noticed means it can supply 60W of power (12x5). I have 2 of these & they're great. They're regulated, so the voltage stays pretty constant with load & there's no hum, like you can get with cheaper AC-DC adaptors.
...and they're on sale for £15 a go. Bargain. I should be on commission or something...

I've got an i931 on the way to the UK. I guess they're going to be pretty rare in the UK. Being a dyed-in-the-wool basshead, I'll let you know what I think when it arrives.

btw, a question for any i931 owners:
This b-box has bass & treble controls & also EQ presets. Do these work together, or does using one override the other? ie, can you set it to "Rock" & then also turn the bass way up? Smile

Hey ISO, congrat's on the I931. Yes you can do that. It's actually the setting I like. Rock, and bass to 7, and treble to 6Smile

Though the I931 can't hang with a traditional TRC version,I wonder how it would stack up to my modded TRC-920 "T" with its real tweeters now grafted in.I'll have to do a side by side when I can get over to my friends house again.

I can't wait to get stuck in with the i931.
It's actually a present for my son, so I'll have to give it a wipe & put it back in all the packaging afterwards...
