rambo.estrada - 2008-02-26 16:01
Thanks for the heads up!! I just ordered mine. Hope it has a voltage selector!! When I checked out there were no shipping charges to New Zealand!! Surely that's a mistake?? Free international shipping!!??
panasonic.fan - 2008-02-26 16:02
Nice NON-SECURE ORDER FORM.....
Very unprofessional.
You can call them and place the order over the phone if you are concerned about this (and you should be). It is inexcusable in this day and age for a company not to provide a secure method of purchase if they are going to sell products online.
The only reason there can is that they are simply too cheap to spend the money with Verisign, Thawte, etc.

The guy that answered the phone said that black is the only color for this. The white one for CES was a one off for the event.
Looks like someone glued an ipod in the center.
I can't find a phone number? Does anyone know where it is?
peter.griffin - 2008-02-26 16:35
Hey Rambo, I got this email from lasonic, you'll probably get yours soon.
For International buyer, there are terms and conditions to proceed the order properly as follows :
1. All sales are final
2. The unit is sale AS IS.
3. Customer will pay for shipping fee (s). The shipping fee will be informed later.
4. Customer will pay any additional fee(s) might be occurred during and after shipment.

Like no warranty? NonSecure way of paying? Hidden shipping fees? Sounds like ebay. This is getting stranger as we go. Thanks for the 411 Jens and PanFan. Much appreciated.
panasonic.fan - 2008-02-26 17:04
It has a 1 yr parts, 90 days labor warranty. Pretty standard, I wouldn't expect a company like Lasonic to do a year on labor.
i am not touching that thing, ill wait till i find them at the flea market for 10 dollars.

Full-range speakers?!
A boombox without tweeters sucks sweaty @$$.
peter.griffin - 2008-02-26 19:54
Hey Fuzz, that was the email I got from them for "international" orders. I think your ok cause your in the States.
well, i went for it .mine is on its way.
masterblaster84 - 2008-02-26 20:25
No Tweeters?
I can't wait for someone to give us a real boombox pro opinion.
I suppose, if you think about it, this is a big day for this forum
yaaah!
Are you sure it has no tweets?Maybe 12wX2 merely refers to the left/right channels. If tweeter-less,this suggests it's not a high performance box.The price is slightly disappointing.I don't know if I would spend that much money for a unit with single full range drivers. You could get a decent oldschool box with proper highs for that kind of money. This is beginning to look like it's a novelty item. It's also curious that there's no listed insert options. If it turns out to be fairly loud,I will probably get one though. If we support this release, maybe Lasonic will ramp things up a bit for a version 2 release if this one falls a bit short.
I'm sure one of us will mod that box with better speakers (if tweeterless) once the warranty expires. Carvin, you can use my address for warranty purposes once you receive it.
If enough people DO suppport it and prove there's a market for it, maye they'll bust out the "i975"
to just me - it looks like a cartoon --
but i hope its great and that all you members who get it---love it
This would be a great bbx for a mod project...yup, rip out the iPod dock thingy, and
retrofit a tapedeck! Why not? the opposite has been done before...

Cool, thanks for the offer Fuzz. I replied to the sales guys, "if it has a woofer and tweeter, process my order, if it's full range, cancel"
Dis ist awl zso confusink, ja?
Not really UE...they blew it (big time) IMO!
peter.griffin - 2008-02-27 08:01
Wonder if it will even have line-in/out?
masterblaster84 - 2008-02-27 08:07
Peter, those are some of the questions I would like answered before I lay down $240 to have one shipped to me.
Are the drivers full range or does it have tweeters?
Does it have line in/line out connections?
I'm sure there are more concerns but those are the two that stick in my head.
charlesdickens - 2008-02-27 08:23
The original 931 was listed as 12x2 as well.
peter.griffin - 2008-02-27 11:10
Lookie, they answered my questions.
Regarding your questions,
1. I931 has woofer and tweeter.
2. I931 has iPod AV out and Aux in. I am not sure if this is what you want.
Please let me know if you want keep this order or not.
Thank you
Best regards,

peter.griffin - 2008-02-27 12:25
Sorry JC, I just couldn't resist
Plus it's a gift for my upcoming 40
Hey pg, congratulations on your upcoming b-day! Please keep us informed about your gift...you know we're all going to be like mad scientists around here, wanting to learn all about this newfangled thang!
And thanks for being a good sport about my dog-with-a-bone goofin' around...just having a little fun.
There will now be a moment of silence, please!
There once was a box from Lasonic:
A legend, and no doubt iconic.
But tape deck it lacked;
The dial has been sacked.
I hope that it's stereophonic!
Hehehe...that's the spirit bb!
