Need nice idea to display boomboxes on the wall

thibay - 2009-09-24 13:43

Hey guys,

My boomboxes are taking too much space on the ground here in my living room. This is really time to tidy the place (you know what I'm talking about Smile)

I would like to put them on the wall in a nice original way. My first tough was to hang 2 nails or big steel cables to the ceiling and attach the boomboxes with 2 meat hooks on each handle.

I'm wondering how YOU display your boomboxes ? I'm considering all concepts before digging into that.

Pics are obviously welcome Wink

I personally don't think that would be such a good idea considering the weight of some boxes and the possibility of warping the handles. I say some shelving or like I did, place them on top of as large armoire in the living room.

i say build some mdf or ply boxes to house them.....they can then become aesy to stack....another idea is to move em up into the loft like ive done...........the mrs is happier now i havnt got them all over the dining room........good luck dood

MMh you are right about hanging them, the case can suffer on long term.

Maybe the ikea LACK will do the trick.

hi, i wouldnt want to hang them, for fear of long term handle damage/unnesseccary stress on the handle.
heres my idea:
dont wall mount them- ie shelves. if your room is big enough, get a strong, free standing open unit- they normally come in pine, etc- theyre open at the back too. because boxes are heavy they need to be put on a shelving unit rather than on hooks or wall mounted shelves. they have a look of racking (but not as ugly) like the giant metal stuff used at the diy store.
you could always anchor the unit to the wall for rigidity.
im going the same way as you, although my boxes ant quite overspilling yet-but let me tell you- ill be using this method my self.

Or you use a rail system.
So you are flexible for different sizes:

Here's my corner set up using a rail system.
I really like it. Just be sure to use quality anchors!

Nice display master Z Wink

Here is the result of IKEA lack 190cm. I'm happy, the fixing is hard enough to support 3 boxes.
