Well last Sunday went out with a few of my BMX mates - well about 70 infact
It was charity ride that's held every year - we ride around london on a set route (some time that goes straight out the window as we get lost or loose some
)
well we leave London Waterloo train station at 11am and finish around 6-7pm long days ride and a sore bum on the hard plastic seats ! a 20 mile ride
well while going down through london's ally ways and streets a mate turns and says did you see that guy with the box ?
I looked over my sholder as i had missed him - turned around to see this guy walking along with a vert tastey 777 - so i go over to the guy and have a look at the 777 - sweet - i ask him if he is on any sites for ghetto blasters ?
Yes he says STEREO2GO !
STEREO2GO ? So who are you on there then ?
GLD !
I'm BENDYCAT ELEVENTEEN !
no way ! that was so strange to meet GLD that way
I think he found it a bit strange with 70 bmxer's all around looking at the 777 and me telling them who he is
got some pic's of us
people starting to turn up at the train station
Quick stop at the famous SouthBank
Pub stop - well needed as we had been riding for an hour already
showing off
few bikes lined up on the steps
next pub stop
(sweet pic)
so you can see how many there were of us - we rode in the roads and stopped traffic - people to pictures as we rode pass - honked horns and gave us cheers - i even spoke to KATE MOSS (MODEL) at the traffic lights at one point - but she would let me take a pic and when i tried the driver took off in the Range Rover
then we bumped into GLD
GLD
GLD and BENDYCAT (+ MY £1000 Pro Burner BMX)
It was great to meet GLD in london and in such a strange way - good to meet you mate
cheers B

Thats Awesome!!! Great pics as well, all those vintage BMXers. Reminds me of when I used to ride with the pack.
I have to say it WAS strange being surrounded by this sea of BMXs, especially as I haven't seen one since the mid eighties.
I was really good to put a name to the face.
BTW I am in the middle of modifying the 777; I take it you noticed the two speakers in the middle.
b- nice to see what you look like at last! by the way congratulations on the charity bike ride, you did good my son. nice to see gld and that sexy 777 too!

Kick A$$ guys! That is just great!
I love the picture of the bike with the pint of beer!
Hey GLD, nice 777, you mentioned MODS??? Are you going to do a thread on that?
I'll do another thread on the mods with pics. I am replacing the outer speakers right this moment.
I am really glad you put the pics up Bendycat. It's the only chance I got to see those bikes in detail. It's easy to forget how finely crafted BMXs are.
Man that's sick !!
As I know here in belgium we don't have oldschool bmx meetings.. and that's a shame.
OMG........ this is the coolest thing I've seen here!!!!!!!!! The best of BOTH of MY world's. Wish I was there!!!!!
transwave5000 - 2009-10-02 15:39
I see beer.
well there both mine - that was my pint and it went down well
The bmx is a PRO Burner and is very rare
it is only one of 20 know to extist (there maybe more out there but still locked away in garages or attics)
they are the top bike in the Raleigh Burner collection to have (and only 20 of us do
)
I found mine at a carboot for £10
a few new parts and a clean up
now the bike is worth over £1000 (and that is a real price, as the last one went for £1200 )
cheers B

ohhh man awsome pics!!!! geez look at all those bikes!
great piccy`s BC............makes me wanna go out and start bmx`in again........cooooooooooL
Ghettoman,
The inner woofers are Skytronics 16cm woofers and if you are thinking of using them a word of warning. The magnets are 30 grams a piece. So it adds quite a bit of weight.
I've given some details on the modifications in the technical section of this forum.
great story - the bike meet looks like great fun & took in some of the best of London - Covent Garden, etc.
Very impressed with gld, good to see someone out & about with a really BIG boomer
