chiplayer - 2009-08-24 16:32

You're in the U.S right? Let's see what you got. I'd be glad to pay for shipping and give you a fair deal for them boomboxes that you want to get rid of. Just send me a private message! Wink

bendycat - 2009-08-24 16:50

it's a hard game dealing with the people who don't know the true value or understand the reason we collect - ebay and craiglist are good place that are just full of fools looking for cheap stuff and that they don't want to pay a decent price for the right item Nod Yes

give chiplayer a pm and you will know that they are going to the right person Nod Yes Wink

cheers B

shame i'm in the UK Roll Eyes Laugh Out Loud

sinister - 2009-08-24 16:51

"if" you still have them maybe post pix here if you havent tried already.......

redbenjoe - 2009-08-24 17:30

this is a difficult story to hear about old classic boxes crushed at the dump --

in case there are no parts boxes or project boxes
for the members --

then - in new york --you might find a dozen schools that could use them all for art classes or graffiti practice, etc --

every plan is better than their final destruction

bmoney - 2009-08-24 18:03

why throw things in trash instead of selling it to someone for $10? i don't understand this kind of logic. ok so its actual value is more than $10 and the $10 offer feels like a slap in the face but it's worth nothing by trashing it. nobody wins. everyone loses. and i see it all the time too. people put something out on their lawn or driveway with a price tag on it. nobody buys it so they haul it to the dump. but they turned down the guy who offered $10. it's some kind of sick mentality like "if i can't get what i think it's worth then nobody will have it." how selfish. just give it to somebody who wants it instead of being bitter about "diminished value."

this guy should throw his whole collection in the trash. even the conions. he's not a real collector. he's just a douchebag. he obviously has no appreciation for the stuff and should just listen to his wife's stellar opinions.

hey jamescyberjoe! is that your ebay id? i want to block you. lmao! loser.

bendycat - 2009-08-24 18:09

i agree BMONEY Cool

superduper - 2009-08-24 18:30

James, I am one of those "difficult" buyers that bought something from your collection. I guess if I buy, pay promptly, receive an empty box because you failed to invest 50 cents in strapping tape, then wants my money back, I will be considered a difficult buyer.

Well, I got news for you. If you don't take care of business from your end and package properly, then please don't expect the buyers out there to just sit there, take their whippings and say thank you, gimme more.

If the box you sent me is any indication, I think you should take all your boxes to the dump. At least only you will be affected and no buyers will be harmed in the process.

dinosaur - 2009-08-24 18:31

I understand your frustrations but to just dump everything is kinda drastic,i feel!
So many memories accompany each find/purchase:even the ones you didn't like!
Closing the door like that must take some courage. I can only sigh and say "you're a better man than me!"

alvinm - 2009-08-24 18:38

You rarely here someone use the term "Difficult Buyers," its usually the other way around.

transamguy1977 - 2009-08-24 19:49

WOW That sucks.
Sorry to hear a good member here got burned in the boombox destruction process.

What a waste.

My wife said it best: "why carry around a behemoth when your whole collection could fit on a little player".
Just my opinion.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

"Little Players" are only good for miniscule collections of average music...analog is the original "Lossless" format...

MY wife thinks this place (stereo2go.com) is the bomb and what everyone does here is cool beyond belief.

zx280 - 2009-08-24 20:20

The market can't be too saturated. What about the Sharp GF-767 down here Downunder for $2710 Aussie dollars! There's still a lot of collectors out there who will pay good money for good stuff.

jaredscottfla - 2009-08-24 21:08

there are many difficult buyers and i too was tempted to throw stuff out,but NEVER DID.
lEGITIMATE REASONABLE OFFERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOMED. fOR A HAMILTON,I WOULD KEEP THE STUFF,NOT THROW THEM AWAY. I agree with most of what's been said i think it could have been said more sensibly. my .02 cents. Wink

transwave5000 - 2009-08-24 21:45

Should have ask how, where
to sell, donate them on here.

walkgirl - 2009-08-24 22:16

Confused

What a untrue story Big Grin

viennasound - 2009-08-24 23:44

Simply crazy.
A waste of stuff and a waste of money! Tap Toes
I never dumped a box, except it´s finally dead.
Before it get parted like a skeletor. Big Grin
Good boxes i don´t want are sold for cheap or given as present to friens.
Or to the company for the working area! Smile

roddyradiohier - 2009-08-25 00:06

Well i'd have to disagree about the value deflation.....been collecting for 7 years and the prices now are way higher than back then....everywhere..!!

Normy,
Read your Paypal, You have not proved your case, I don't know you, you could be saying anything. And if you continue to slam me publicly your case will be lost. So watch your tongue and keep it civil yourself, until you prove otherwise.
Anybody can say what you're claiming.

What else does he have to prove? He received an empty box, which was verified buy USPS. We saw the flimsy packing job... Confused

im.out.of.hear - 2009-08-25 07:05

Ahh yet another "sean" joins stereo2go,and if you dumped all your boxes, they could`ne been worth much then because you would would`nt be saying you had no luck on ebay, infact you would`nt need luck,if they were nice boxes, they would have sold thenselves,.selling them on ebay does`nt need luck, its rare to see a decent box finish with No Bids on ebay..and i`m sorry but if you had a conion C100 and had no luck selling it on ebay, you must be a total lier, they sell like cookie dough on ebay..
I say, either your boxes were low quality or you did`nt try hard enough,,
go on,call me names,sticks and stones !

chiplayer - 2009-08-25 08:58

Okay, I guess I take it back. I'll stick to my way of buying boxes at the thrift as always. Just wouldn't want to take a chance on getting burned. For me and probably most of us here it'll be a mortal sin to even think about throwing these into the dumpster, if they are really of any value at all! It's true, good quality boxes sell themselves. I mean if a seller doesn't appreciate these boomers, then why should I believe that I won't get burned?

superduper - 2009-08-25 12:12

James, read my post-reply again, and read it carefully. There is no slamming here -- I call it like I see it and have nothing to fear from being honest.

So you are saying either I censor myself or I shall lose my case? And who decides that, you? Good grief.

jvc.floyd - 2009-08-25 16:48

i think any decent collector would give the boxes away for just the shipping cost if they got that tired of them ,i would give a box away before dumping it or at least offer it up for parts or whatever ,but i guess throwing them out and bragging about it suits you more so i guess that makes you an un collector .

wow...kinda crazy huh? First of all, that definitely blows like a hair dryer that Norman got stiffed on a box...secondly,(however this is just as much my fault cuz I don't visit enough)I would really like to start a collection, and if a guy is dumping good boxes in the trash, people like me are losing out big time...
Just my 2 cents...
