dear boombox world
ive been banging on recently about how my car boot visits have been dire lately. well, it seems ive had a stroke of luck over the bank holiday weekend. been to 3- and scored 2 new boxes for my collection. i went to whitley bridge on sunday and found a nice little toshiba rt80s (my first toshiba) and believe it or not went to castleford yesterday and picked up its brother- a toshiba rt120s. the 80s is careworn- looks like its been opened up a couple of times and has screws missing. tape inop- but the radio works strong and sounds quite nice- for its small size.
the toshy rt120s was a real surprise- it sounds fantastic to say its only 13w! and this one is in much better condition than the 80s. i love it. paid £1 for the 80s and £2 for the 120s. on both occasions i got to name my price- and won on my opening offers!
to anyone here old enough to remember rumbelows/radio rentals in the uk- did they ever loan out blasters? because the 120s has a curious number on a label underneath it and a yellow "quality tested" label on a swing ticket hanging from it- they both look original. if anyone knows please let me know!!!!
andy.
