http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...em&item=150371434426I put in a $101 snipe bid, which I thought was ridiculously high already for a little box like this. But apparently it wasn't. Unbelievable. My personal holy grail, but there's no way it's worth over $150.
I was watching that one too... Nice, nice little mini.
I want one too.
I'll admit I'm collecting Sony right now since thats what I was buying back in the early bbx days of the 1970s, but that is an interesting little unit - is it just digital display with a analog tuner or does it also have a digital tuner ? what year is it....1982-ish ? My interest is drifting into early JVC (1974-78), but don't see too many of them out there.
Yeah, this came out around '82-'83. I bought one brand new then, it was my first box. So tracking one of them down now is a sentimental kinda thing.
It had a digital tuner with memory pre-sets, tape search (fast forward to next track) and a B-phonic "wide" stereo effect, some pretty cool features. What it didn't have was volume. It was one of the quietest boxes, even among the small ones I later had, so when the tape deck broke on it, I threw it out and replaced it with a bigger and more powerful Sharp. Who knew?
I've been trying to track one down for the past few years, but there's no way I'd pay that much for it. It's a nice little box, but it's not all that special, aside from the rarity. If you're not nostalgic for this specific model, you can find much nicer, higher-end JVC's for this kind of money. I just didn't think it would be worth over fifty bucks to anyone but me, much less a hundred and fifty.
