Hey guys, first of all I'm pretty new here. Been lurking for a long while, only now decided to come out and say hey XD. I've been searching for my first boombox for a while. It's pretty difficult because I don't get too much money and I'm a failure at saving. Anyway, I've found a Sanyo M9902-2 (pretty much perfect save for some corrosion in the battery compartment) and a Panasonic RX-5050 (antenna tip broken off, and an equalizer knob is missing). They are both priced about $60. I want some opinions on which are better, or maybe even other boxes for around the same price. I'm trying to make my first one a good one, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks
!
Welcome Ghettoblaze!
I have both of those boxes, and if I were you I would go for the Panny RX-5050. It is a fantastic box.
The Sanyo is just a normal sounding unit with no line in. The RX-5050 has line in so you can play your Ipod through.
If you buy the RX-5050 I think I might have an extra equalizer knob you could have.
I liked the Panasonic better anyway. Now that I know for sure, I'm gonna try for that one. How much would you want for that knob?
On another note, I don't know anything about fixing boomboxes or the like. Is there some place I could look to learn stuff like replacing cassete belts, wiring etc?
Good choice.
I'll just send you the knob for free,if you P.M. me your address.
As far as fixing them, that is just something you need to learn yourself.
I don't know of any books that will show you how to replace belts, etc.
Alrighty, thanks man. I'm pretty handy, so I think I can learn to fix 'em myself
!
Sure,your welcome!
You can do it. Just take your time,it will be fine.
at this moment skippy is right for once
