A Hitachi 3D80 vs. GF-777 vs. M-X920K?

opamox - 2009-10-18 22:52

Hi folks!

I was wondering, which of those boomboxes mentioned would win in loudness and/or sound quality?

I have the Sanyo 920, my friend is going to have the GF-777 in the next few weeks and I could perhaps get my hands on a 3D80 for a reasonable price.

I was just thinking if the 3D80 is worth buing?

Cheers!

i'de say there's no competition, the 777 will blow the others away,i had a 3D88,it sounded ok but not ground breaking,i have'nt heard the 920..but i do have a 777 and it sounds mean, very loud with loads of bass..

here's my 2 cents worth, as someone who's owned them all (at least for a little while):

The 3D80 is loud & thumps hard, but ultimately will run out of puff first.
The Sanyo is a much better quality boomer from an earlier age & this shows in the sound (it's sound quality is close to the M90, I reckon, if not for overall volume).
The 777 will probably make the most noise with the most bass, with a quality on a par with the Sanyo.

...if you actually plan to use any of these on batteries on the move, there is only one choice: the Hitachi. The others will devour D-calls at a frightening rate, while crippling you with their weight Smile

3D80 Sounds good and looks sweet Wink

Thanks for all the replies!

I desided to get the 3D80, I'll only have to pay 11€ for it, so it's quite cheap. Big Grin I should be getting it tomorrow.

The sanyo 920 really sounds good, but it's not too loud. I can't wait for my friend to get his 777 so we can have a little battle to test which is louder. Wink

p.s. bendy, that photo was the last nail in the coffin. Your 3D80 does look pretty awesome in that pic. Big Grin I WANT ONE.

Just got the 3D80 today. Smile It's in quite good condition, everything works.

One thing there is which is added by the previous owner: a second RCA-connection and a swich between those two RCA's. Big Grin He told me he had started his DJ-career with it and two cd-players. Red Face

EDIT: Actually now when I've heard what this 3D80 sounds, I can tell that there's no competition at least between sanyo 920 and 3D80. 920 has much more clearer sound.

Nice pic Bendycat Smile
In that company, the 3D80 will be one of the better one's for bass. however, a GF777 will more than give a 3D80 a run for it's money...

im.out.of.hear - 2009-10-23 07:43

yep, sorry but the 3d80 cant possibly stand up to the sound of a 777,it just does'nt have the guts..plus think about it,777s cost alot of money back in the 80s,alot of people could'nt even afford one, alot of technology was put into it,i think as with all 90s boxes (apart from the Pana DT680) most boxes including Hitachi 3D's were more of a Budget brands that people could afford..

bendycat - 2009-10-23 09:17

well if some one sends me a free 777 i will test this theroy Nod Yes Wink

opamox - 2009-10-23 09:39

Just got a dispatch note from china post telling me that my friends 777 is in the post, just waiting for pickup. Wink We'll test this theory next week and I'll report the results here right away. Big Grin

This is indeed true. Plenty of boom for your buck was what Hitachi 3Ds were all about.
