hello,i buy today a kaboom from la bay,for 129$ can!!!!decause jvc stop this model.i love this boombox and the sound and bass are incredible!
i cant stand the kaboom- its too round to be a true 80s classic- even though it was out in the 80s!
still, its nice to get a new box, so congrats to you and if you like it- thats what matters!

Well there are old and new models of the Kaboom.
I dont think its discontinued.
my model is rv nb20b,the new is litle bit different.
I've heard a Kaboom playing in a clothes store an the bass is incredible indeed.I think that the early precursors of the kabooms are the pc-v 3d hyperbass serries. They feature a subwoofer and provides a very good deep bass and the overall sound is very good.I sold my beloved bicycle back in the 1990 to get the JVC PC-V88(285 US dollars when new).Maybe they are not very loud but very good built quality.I share someone elses opinion here who consider them to be underrated.

Kabooms did not come out in the 80's They came out in the early 90's and are a classic in their own right.
Name one portable that came close to their sound in the 90's or 2000's.
Give credit where it's due and don't hate.
Peace,

The Aiwa CS 880 came very close to the JVC RC NB10 in bass response , and the trebles are better...
sorry but i dont beleive that old aiwa have same bass than the kaboom, i am happy to see jvc do better whit a new concept like kaboom.since i have it i am impress.
I seen the Kaboom Commercial for the first time back in 1998 watching a Formula one race, it was on a subway, great sound.
Kabooms are awesome. I have 4 of them and I do love em,even though they dont have the classic 80s shape. As for the Aiwa cs880, it has great bass response but I dont think it can match the Kabooms. I also have the 880. By the way cman, I LOVE your avatar!!!
here it is guys ..the latest one RV-NB50

I also am not a fan of the kaboom..
But...my friend has one and he brought it down to my house to show me,and i gotta say...the bass..oh yess the bass is radical, madd bass..it has deep bass, for a 90s box its nice,i also like to say good going to jvc for staying dedicated to portable ghetto's,least there one company that still Believe in ghetto blasters..

Panasonic RX DT-680. It's more sensitive to the lower frequinces (below 60hz) than the kaboom. The dt680 also outpounds the kaboom as the volume is cranked. Much respect to the kaboom - a very nice unit it is, but the dt680 ranks right up there with it.
Yeah, it's a nice Box, but not as nice as Cman750's Avi!!!

LOL!! If I was 100% straight, I'd might agree with you, but I have a weakness for tanned muscled-bound pretty boys!!!! To each his own I guess.

I'm a guy, and I think that I much prefer to be in the arms of a tanned musceled prettyboy. I don't really like labels but for lack of a better reference I'd say that makes me "gay" at least to some degree. Thanks for being such a good sport about it all!
Oh wait a miniute, I just realized what you were asking, LOL!. I prefer "my brother" cause I'm a guy. Silly me!
