I've got a customer looking for a mint GF-777. I know its almost impossible to find, but I thought maybe one of you guys
might have one to sell, or know of one somewhere. It doesn't have to work, just the exterior has to be imaculate. The customer is prepared to pay for that.

Would be great if anyone could help out.

Check Ebay, I bought one just recently from there from a guy in China. Apparently a lot of people here are not too fond of boxes from China but I took a chance and bought one, and cosmetically speaking it was almost mint. The person I dealt with was not too honest with the operational aspects of the box but the good thing is I was able to repair it all and the one I have works like new. It took a lot of work to fix it, like cleaning the potentiometers, replacing some wires,belts and pinchrollers. Not to mention adjusting some of the internal componets to make it work 100%. So if you're willing to take a chance too, then go for one of those from China. I also know some people here were not happy with what they got and with the experiance they had with the sellers in China. However, my experiance was a bit different.

I have one in the for sale section that is in good condition. Not mint but pretty good. Its missing one tape door and a switch tip. But for the right price, i will put on a tip and the right door from another GF777. Is it for a photo shoot, Video??? and its fully working order.

Make sure you get plenty of insurance too when you ship it. This time of year so many boxes are being shipped for the Holidays that everything is getting pushed through in rush mode!

No, I bought mine from a guy under the name xd62. I'm thinking the guys from China all know each other and are all trying to make a buck knowing there is a collectors market.

Jeez, everyone and their mother wants a GF777.

I had a bad experience with the guy in Xianxing or wherever it is. The box looked ok on the outside, but had a lot of corrosion and smell inside, a pitted tape head, and problems with output between channels. I'm guessing because of exposure to salt water in the air of a coastal city. Also he was less than honest in his description.

The GF 777 is not that special and certainly not rare. Strange fact that this bussinesman wants one so hard

It's just its looks that makes it so popular. People want the biggest and the baddest, and the 4 speakers make an impression. Personally though, I think it looks very imbalanced, because the line between the two mesh grills doesn't line up with the cassette door. It's not symetrical.

I had one off ebay a few year back, I won it for £160, it sold before that and they never paid, the pictures were terrible, which put people off and when it arrived it was the best one i'd seen.

I sold it on, the buyer even said he was amazed at the condition when it arrived

Right on! I got mine in terrible shape, but with new tuner glass, six new speakers, and a total clean up, it sounds BETTER than new.

This business man wants the GF-777 because he had one when he was a kid. So it has to be that one. We have a mint looking 767 but he said thats not the same, even though they are more rare.

i got a GF909 from peppin,that arrived smashed..but i paid for snail mail (6-8 weeks) never again,his packing was great..
i'de say china sellers are very good people to buy from,they pack really well,if the shipping was'nt as high i'de buy from them all the time..i'de say if you buy from china,make sure you pay extra for air mail..

i'de love to be able to buy off yahoo japan..i have a love/hate relationship with that site,i love looking but it hurts because i cant bid,there's some real beautiful boxes on there and they go for nothing compared to ebay,but they wont allow international bidding,they dont accept paypal and they wont ship worldwide,if they did i reckon yahoo japan would be bigger than ebay...

Peppin is very different from the mainland China sellers.

Peppin actually describes (in detail) the condition of his boxes.

Most mainland sellers don't.

Conveniently, I might add.

i bought my 777 from china a couple years ago.great shape everything still works.i got mine cause i bought one when i was 16.
