whats up world!
can anyone tell me more about the models offered by national/national panasonic/or just plain panasonic in their years between say 1978 and 1982.
just got an rx 5104l off evilbay for £7.75-needs work but i bought it as a project.
so how come my euro version for instance is a 5104L, and elsewhere these were known as rx 5100/5110?
ive been doing this stuff for nearly a year now and apart from loving it, have come to the conclusion that panasonics are brilliant boxes.
so any info suppliable by your good selves would be appreciated, and why was panasonic known under different names accross the world?
cheers in advance, people.
andy
If you ever see a 5500, grab it, they sound incredible but don't fetch a high price.

Yes, interesting question about those names. Why Panasonic is National, or even National Panasonic, why JVC is Victor, Hitachi is Perdisco sometimes? Is it just becouse those names do sounded more engaging that way outside Japan?
Don't think so:/. Same with european Philips/Magnavox. Really, what was the point? Can u, people, post more of those names here? Would be interesting to know. And yes, Andy, we need your pics
. I know, that during the last months u've find lot's of cool stuff
yeah reli, ill keep an eye out for an rx 5500-seen them in pictures and they look good.had an rx 5600 at one time but it had a badly vibrating tweeter so part exed it for my hitachi 8290 trk.
brigadier, yeah, it is a bit confusing all this badge engineering- its like basically how can one manufacturer have so many different versions of the almost same box- (5100/5104/5110) i just assume they were evolutions of each other.just makes my life hard-gotta find so many different panasonics now!!!!!!!!

Definitely more than a RX-5150, at least.
I'd say it's about as much bass as a Sharp 8989 or 9191, but with a lot more realism, precision, and right-there life-like quality.
