Lovely box there Henry, I noticed the separate aerials for SW and FM, not sure why they did it but it look cool anyway - perhaps you could have one aerial pointing to your favourite FM station and the other pointing towards a SW transmitter.
thanks phil~

Hi Henry-Nice National!
(Maybe the woofers have large magnets and large spiders! Yes-spiders-the coil that makes the cone extend. That can make a nice woofer sound from a medium size speaker.)
Have a great week-Ghettoboom777.

Ramon I agree completely and plan on performing this work on many of my boxes however as you noted it's money and time consuming.
I wonder how much it would cost to do something like that? If a tech were to charge per hour - are we looking at several thousand dollars to re-cap a boombox??
And
here is a 88-108 bro
a quite similar model and nice bbx indeed~!!
seems like mine has a mic mixing switch but the one ine auction doesn't
how many verion did panny produced??
The one at eBay is "international" one, while 7700 was made for Japanese domestic market. Why it had a voltage selector is unclear to me, maybe just "why not"
On the other hand, what prevented them from making a 74-108MHz model is unclear either
and the one one ebay is 12v(8 D-cells)
mine is 15v
nice 7700 from takobakota, Henry
p.s. I need 1 tuning (volume) knob and 1 antenna for my 7700. I have completed unit, but 1 knob has scratches and 1 antenna must be repaired if it possible at all. so trade for the same knob and antena possible with some additional payment from my side.

no. it shouldnt cost more than maybe at the most three hundred bucks for it to be recapped and the inside of boombox totally cleaned and all lubed up belts changed ect ect. that should be the most it should cost. any more and i would say to find someone who is competent and well more honest to do a job.
thats generally how much it costs to recap a synth or a guitar amp.
i have had the caps replaced in my juno and it took three hours. it cost under three hundred dollars and there is a hella of lot more going inside one of those than any boombox.
