I just joined recently cause i need lots of tech aid and advice since i live in no where. I'm from canada and live north of toronto.
I always liked old boom boxes and cassette players, (cause its what my car takes). But i really didn't start collecting till a year ago. I went off to school in some redenck town where everyone pawn their stuff for crack money so i bought all these old boomboxes, walkmans, cassettes, cds, and lps for nothing. Now i have no room to store this, lol.
where i live now, it is hard to find old things since its a town that is new and sub divisions are constantly being built.
I usually collect just about anything i like, 80's to early 90's stuff, pop culture items, old video games, etc...

harpurhey eh!! i go to the flea market there sometimes on a thursday, i picked a gf9090 up from there for £3 in mint condition, i do have 1 or 2 for trade unfortunately dont have the 990!! what boxes do you have to trade??? (do you get home sick)
hi all, does anyone know what year the gf9191 was made ive had this box for a while now and im curious to know what year it dates from, i cant determine if its late 70s or early 80s!!!!

I worked at beast bye and got pretty tired of being a honest sales man, as i watched my co-workers try their best to sale crap to consumers and then tell them that the crap their where going to buy was gona break and needed the warenty. It always got me thinging, dam i wish that warrenty was still around on my sharp, lol!.
I hate it when costumers asked me about ipods and what one i have. I reply that i don't have one, and they look at me side ways. Not that ipods are bad, its just yesterdays news.
But now i here with people that share the same interest in me. it really great for repair advice cause most places will not repair this stuff unless for top dollar!

should have mentioned yesterday....about your 9191....it dates to 1977/78 around the same time as the gf9090,its slightly more basic sibling.it would have cost the earth-over £350-i imagine would have been bought from comet, dixons or currys.this was not an argos machine-way too good for the likes of argos!the 9191 is an awesome machine-the chrome really sets it off!ive got brochure pages copied from internet) if you want me to post em for you pm me-and ill happily do it!

, the only gfs i have are the 9191, 9090 and the 525, i do have the sony cfs88 all in mint condition, the cfs is a beauty with killer looks and its a monster (36ins long)
oi!dont go letting that cfs 88 go-i might find you summat on the carboot tomorrow to swap for it
ok no probs...i wouldnt mind a shout at that cfs88 though....do you want a gf555 for it in very good gondition...iv replaced both idle wheel rubbers so its all good now..........as for the brochures i think we will all appreciate it if you post the sharp catalogueson here...........i think i speak for everyone...
hey lav loo- if i were gonna reccomend anyone to do a swap with for the sony it would be dave-terrific lad-and hes fairly local-ish to you.dave i still love the 8989-and the brochures,well i get them off wegavision normaly mate-ive tried in vain to find old box brochures/magazines at the carboot-and all ive ever found is a jvc one from 1990-but the boxes in it are too late for me-despite previously owning a couple of them!
the sonys is going nowhere at the mo andy, but if you come up trumps with a box im after i would be more than happy to trade with you

Hey dave i saw that you used to live in harper hey,i was doind deliveries down there not long ago for B&M Stores..you are right,its a dump,kids in balacava's,scouring round the delivery van..we used to deliver the stuff and get out quick as poss !!
i used to go to willow vale years ago for all my ghetto bits,it was just off oldham rd,they used to have every Sharp GF service diagram in existance,they kept it on the counter,i asked them if i could have it,you can guess what they said to that ha ha...

Yeah i suppose it is loo...even blackpool...we moved away from manchester when i was 4 years old and bought a hotel in blackpool...i bet you didnt know this but 45% of hotels and guest houses in blackpool are up for sale.....thankfully we left the hotel business when i turned 18....but i tell you man....muggings, drugs, people sleeping ruff, ....you neme it , we got it.....same everywhere
my uncle moved over to blackpool a few year back (poulton) he loves it there, but like i said everywheres the same these days! ive just moved back here from skeggy its quite rough down there now, the only upside was a 2 minute walk to the beach, where me and my rising src20/20 would sit happily together in the sun blasting out my fav 80s electro

my aunty (mothers sister) has lived in blackpool for about 60 years,she had a shop near to the sea front,when my uncle died she closed it down,lived there until she was too old,she's still in blackpool but she's in a care home now,not seen her since i was a kid and i'm 41 this year..
...not new to the site but just recently started posting. I am in the US in Northern Cali. I currently have only 15 boxes in my small collection. When I finish all the customization work I will post pics of them all. My avatar is one of my finished projects...an M70 painted in white with custom white speakers w/ blue rings.
