Show pics of your first Bo0MbOx!

brian84corvette - 2010-11-14 21:09

I guess this one counts as my first "big"
box that I own - as I have only tried to find some more recently - but I did make my own but that is for a diffrent topic later.

pix

my brother drew pictured here using his new dual track digital scratch with fader playing mp3 file songs off the laptop with sounds going to the old ghetto blaster for a live performence in my living room. haha
pretty high teck for an ol box

Here are photos of my first radios... circa 1989-1990

A white Luxor double decker on top of the wonderful 10" black and white Salora tv. Used to play with my Atari 800XL on that very screen... rofl

My long gone GF9191, i think this is the only photo i have of it. I recorded my voice calling for our dog and stuffed some clothes to fool the dog to believe it was the puppet calling for him, how stupid is not that? Well i got a photo out of it, you can see "SHARP" painted on both speaker grilles, and the tape deck door is missing its cover. You know, everything that is loose HAS to be removed... Wink hehe

And by the way, check out those WONDERFUL colours! The wallpaper, the sofa, the pants... hahahaa rofl

Hey guys enjoyed this article I don't have any pix of my first and am not really a collector, but my RF-7490 was found by one of you colleagues and is featured in the chat section of this webpage, a two-piece by Panasonic back when it was THE electronics guru! I bought it in 1969 in lower Manhattan where I used to work and used to bring it into work often until I sold it a year or so later, I would buy it again if I could find one that works like mine used to until I sold it, haha, good article...

bredgeo - 2011-02-07 22:19

This was actually (not the original) but the first stereo Box I had:

shboom - 2011-02-08 06:38

Bought at a flea market in Wisconsin in 1982.  At $100, I thought I was getting a bargain.  How times have changed!

Well, today I have joined up to this site after spending the entire day looking at the many wonderful systems that people have. I had no intention of ever buying a 'blaster till I got started and this day is about to end with me the proud owner of a Fisher PH 702WK. I can't wait to be a bit naff and wander round town listening to some 'Bangin' tunes

So, this would be your "First boombox"???????? None from back in the 80s or 90s/

onemorebeerman - 2011-08-05 19:41

Whoops, sorry if I posted that in the wrong area.  My first one in 25 years I guess.

The first one I remember having was a Magnavox like this one.

bredgeo - 2011-08-05 20:11

By the way... I just found a pic, on yahoo Jap, of my actual, first, Bbox (mono)!!!! VERY FIRST

(If some one knows how to copy the image not to have a link, please do do it for me):

http://img321.auctions.yahoo.c...62941ayvqom35211.jpg

The story of this cassette player is; my dad did some work for a guy back in 78/79, maybe 80, and the guy could only do a trade, he had no cash... Thus gave this player to my dad. This little mono radio was then given to my brother and me, and we actually shared it for almost a year... The funny thing is that the sharing of it created no problems!!! That is amazing for young kids, is it not?

The death of that poor Bbox was by my brother, he had put it on the window ledge, playing tunes... He said, "It was weird, the music just sounded as if it were leaving, fading away..." Well, it was, it did, for the brother was on the upper floor of the house, in his room, and the cassette player kinda fell to the ground, and that was that...

THAT is when our grandmother bought us our own individual players... They were "Radiola" mono cassette players. Need to find pics of those, now!

electron1100 - 2012-01-12 09:23

My first stereo Boombox was way back in 1976 a Sharp GF-9090......it was jaw dropping at the time, it cost £199.00 from my mates mums mail order book, I no longer have that particular machine but i still have a GF-9090, I remember having a Sharp sales brochure that had the 9090 as the then top machine.

I do have a photo of me and it but at the age of 16/17 i look so bad i am not willing to post it ;-)

driptip - 2012-01-21 09:49

man! dont be afraid, nothing but brave men here. (collectors)

marvin - 2012-01-25 10:53

is this boomboxs just as big and how mush are you selling it for

chris69 - 2012-01-25 11:36

Well if we include portable 8-track players,my very first boombox would have been on identical to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-PANASONIC-RQ-830S-8-Track-Player-Works-Yellow-TNT-Dynamite-Portable-/150741960708?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item2318ebc804

After that from the ages of 10yrs to 25yrs i must have owned 40-50 different ones. I grew up poor but traded alot with the guys in my hood.

brutus442 - 2012-01-25 11:44

This is my first boombox. A Candle.

candle

I spent many o' hours with this inside and outside.

Great features include:

-ability to ONLY chew favourite store bought tapes but leave crappy dubbed ones alone

-recieve FM stations only after a good smack and voodoo ceremony

-have antennas that droop into your walking path while carrying a bucket of paint or any other liquid you don't want spilled.

Still......she's my fav.

nice units Mr Vu, Specially the m70, i finally found my long lost love, soon ill post a pic of it.

stepaan - 2012-05-12 15:41

A collector some 200 km away has decided to sell out all his stuff. The first one I've bought is the baby in the middle – Panasonic RX-F32LS, the second was the one on the right hand side: Rising PC-007L. The third in the row was the leftmost one. It has many names/brands. In my case Sankei TRC-S90. I just love them all!

bredgeo - 2012-05-13 01:06

Nice!!! What else does he have????

stepaan - 2012-05-13 02:14

Since I wanted some huge units, these were the last ones worthy. He has a plenty of smaller silver machines. To name a few: PHILIPS D-8130, GRUNDIG RR340, RR 345, UNIVERSUM CTR 4040, SUPERTECH MC-9, SIEMENS CLUB 818, 744, SANYO M9802, TOSHIBA RT-70S, RT-120S, some japanese OEMs (or how to call it). $10–$20 for a piece, hehe.

Some Sharps – two SHARP GF-9500H none of them fully functional, SHARP GF-7500H also two pieces. There was some AIWA with tape and CD (looked a bit like SHARP WQ-CD15H). He also has this beauty: Panasonic RX-CW200 – but it has some switches jammed so it's not possible to choose Tuner, tape, and he doesn't know if it could work after fixing this. And so on, and so on... As I said, mainly smaller thingies left.

Quite long post, but you asked ;-)

http://elektro.bazos.cz/hifi/240/

It's in czech, but here come his offers. Everything with "Brno venkov" in the "lokalita" collumn comes from his collection. Try the next pages too.

Well my first boombox was the sanyo 3500 i dont own one anymore but im in the hunt for it. I also went on a hunt for a Wilco CRS-1047 which was one of the few i had as i was attending Junior High School 25 in nyc but i recently purchased one now. I had many as a kid and soon ill post them here

bredgeo - 2012-11-11 02:17

Hey, hey... The Sanyo 3500, that is a mono box, righ?

The 4500, that one is stero... Right?

chupa - 2012-11-11 07:24

Yes Bregio mono box with no handle but strap

chupa - 2012-11-11 07:39

The 4500 is a totaly different box and is a stereo box the 3500 is a double sided, one side is silver and the other side is black

bredgeo - 2012-11-11 09:50

Yeah.... That is what i thought.... I need to go through my hidden Bboxes, but i think I got the 4500, I need to find it.

If not, the 3500 has (if I saw correctly) the radio dial as a type of cone on the top left, right? If that is the one, one of my fiends (of the days) had that mono Bbox!

chupa - 2012-12-25 15:03

Hey I back sorry for the lateness .. bregio yes the cone Tuner on top of the Sanyo 3500 made it cool

glen - 2013-01-03 08:17

My first boom box was the SHARP GF-777, didn't have it for long was disappointed with the lack of solid deep mellow Bass from it.
