hi all, does anybody know why most hitachi tape decks are usually shot on ghettos?? a good 80% of hitachis iv,e owned have shot decks and make a horrible humming sound when powered up. just wondering if anyone else has had same issues
How old are these Hitachi's, if they are 8200 series then they are around 30 years old and the belts have turned to goo. If you can hear humming then the motors are still working so you just change the belts, although not an easy job. This will be the case with any box of that age.
Me again, i've got four Hitachi 8190, each one had that problem. I got my belts from C.P.C, have a look at their online catalogue
thanks for that ade, now you've killed my curiousity
mainly the trk 9100,s and a 8290 i have in my kitchen, had the 8200 a while back but that 1 was 100% functional. unusual
Hi Lav again, just noticed your question about the JVC m80, i've got one of these with a duff deck, it plays ok but dodgy FF and rewind, stripped it down,(a real sod to do) only to find no way to repair it, logik control!!, i only paid £17 so no great loss. £80 seems really steep for one with a suspect deck.
yes i've heard about the decks on them being unrepairable, i got it for £70 i only paid that much because i really wanted it (that was my spends for the year
) how do you rate the m80?
A really top machine, very good sound, unique tuner, just a shame about deck.
thats how i would rate it, thanks for the input on it
just out of curiousity what boxes do you own? you don't have to tell if you don't want to
No prob', I'll make a list and get back to you, maybe this weekend. If i could work it out i'd put some pics on,
i will try one day.

, i took the link you gave last time and it was a success, iv,e tried to upload from my phone since but had no joy
We have only just moved out of caves in this area, only to discover there is a force called ELECTRICKERY, just managed to set up an avitar today. Small steps.
iv,e only had a pc 3weeks, never touched 1 before. it,s all new to me
no matter how hard you try theres no gettin away from this mod tec. you did the right thing coming out of the caves ade, you,ll only end up with a load of rusty old boxes, very damp in there, and besides no elecky how would you test em out??
WHAT!!!
are they suppose to work or do something, you learn something every day.
very true, most things you learn in a day are not worth knowing, but when it involves boxes you gotta keep your ears pinned

alrite if youve only had a computer for 3 weeks thats fair cop.
ive been using a comp since 1994 so it seems somewhat easy.
thing is there are alot of lazy folk that make excuses as to why they cant do stuff, gets annoying.
not saying its any of you guys - if you genuinely havnt got to grips with it then fair play
OK, i've taken the pics of my collection,
now trying to upload them only to find i have not
been granted permission by the administrator,
how do i get around that, can't find any link to ask permission.
