After a tough bidding battle in the last 20min. that made the GF-9191 cost 110 euros more that it had been for days I gave up and now I'm the owner of the 22w GF-9494 from the same seller I was talkin in my presentation topic ! The box looks like it's in good cosmetic conditions, far from mint however, and needs a new belt.
Now this is the point: I've heard nothing but good things about the '91 but about the '94 I've heard much colder opinions...what do you think about this box? It's worse than its little brother? It's 137 euros (the final price) fair or not? Thanx!
You wont be disappointed!!! I had a 22 Watter, and now have the basic 13 watter.
It is nice, good, great, to be had, and all the rest. BUT, it is true that the 9191, for some reason, has clearer sound (mainly the high ends)...
NOW, if you realy want a Bbox that has good sound ALL AROUND, in Sharp (no high power but REALLY GOOD SOUND), that would be this:
Yep! That little guy is REAL top notch!!!!
And they go for okay prices on ebay (most of them are still in Germany).
Later.
Ohhh, and.....
HI NICOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ye i agree with bredgeo on the sound of the 9090, but the 9191 looks a lot nicer than the 9090
Oh yeah, fur-shur, in looks it is the 9191!!!!
That was my second Bbox, back in the days, after the Aiwa TPR 910.
LOVED THAT 9191!!!!!
Ok, thank you, I can hope for the best
! The '90 it's kinda cute, maybe one day
...the ones I've saw however had strange, very '70ish, covers on the woofers. I'm a happy man, can't wait to get my '94, rock venice channels, my hometown park and destroy my spine
!
I had the 13 watts version and the sound and also the look were great!
Has arrived ! Just like I'd said before, needs the cassette deck to be repaired and a little TLC, but it's very, very beautiful !
Oh yes, and it's very loud too
!!!
hey id love a 9494-been after one since the beginning.but they just dont turn up round here.ive had a few sharps-9090/525/8989/etc and they all have their qualities-so cant wait to get my hands on a 9494, or even better-a 9696-nice
Yesterday I gave this sweet radio it's first serious test, bringing it down to a Venice square where we met with some friends who just got graduation: it has been loud enough to make the cops shutting down our improvised party after 'bout 2 hours
! Besides this we had lots of fun and I like the way it sounds, it's definitely a very good quality unit that never distorts in annoying ways, even at maximum volume, given that you turn down a little the bass and switch off the loudness with some songs. In fact the thing I like least in its sound it's the way it handle the bass, which it's never overwhelming, simply adequate for my tastes. Another good thing i've noticed it's that seems quite thrifty on batteries, after several hours of continuos play, the battery level it's still full. It's quite heavy but the handle it's very big and comfortable so it ain't so much of a chore to lug this around. And, obviously, it's just too cool looking, elegant but totally badass and serious! As Bredgeo said, I'm not disappointed, far from it
!
So Fricking happy you like it!!!!! No one can go wrong with a Sharp!!!! True for the bass, though...

Were you using a cassette tape or an "iPode" type of device plugged into it?
hey miami, you say you give it a street run, if you don,t mind me asking how old are you? i am 35 and would feel a total k**b taking mine on the street
i do take 1 to the beach occasionally though
hey bredge i like your sense of humour mate
@Bredgeo: I was using my mp3 player, cassette deck need to be fixed, ffwd, rw fine, the APLD seem to work but doesn't play, I managed to play a tape but the sound was very weak and bad plus it chews tape...

ahh you can probably get away with the street thing then still, maybe it,s different in your country too, in england walkin the street these days with a box would probly get you shot, or some d***head would try and have it off
Yeah.... With radio and or iPode type things hooked up to them they last for ever!!!!!!!
My 9191 HB/MD and 9595 H/MD last for a long, long, long time (and I got rechargeables)!
Well, it's all about common sense to me. I would feel totally dumb too taking down the street my 'box alone at maximum volume and doin it in some places (not Venice which it's one of the safest cities in the world) could be dangerous. Usually people got mixed reactions, depending on their age, but almost always positive. However nobody carries around boomboxes these days here, maybe some hardcore b-boy and the ravers...
I've to ask you another tip: I've noticed that my Sharp didn't have a line in, so when I cable my mp3 player or PC I use a stereo cable from the phones imput and put it in the mic mix, then turn the fader all the way right to "mic". It worked quite fine, but putting some songs from the first Ramones album, which has guitar and bass pumping respectively on the right and left speakers, I've noticed that guitar it's totally lost and this happens even with other songs I know which seem to lose something in the mix. I'm quite sure that this ain't a problem from the 'box (maybe the fader?), 'cause the tuner plays perfectly stereo, nor the cable 'cos works fine on my pc speakers...I don't know, maybe putting in "mic" ain't the way...I'll be glad for your advice guys, as always
!!!
I use an FM transmitter with some of my boxes. Most transmitters don't have a whole lot of range, but I usually carry my iPod and transmitter in my backpack when I go to the beach and my box gets the signal just fine. Also works well if you want to have more than one box blasting your tunes at the same time.
well venice sounds very cool eh
Yes indeed Lav Loo
! Saturday I've opened it to give it a good cleaning and hopefully for the next week the cassette deck will be working again! I'll post some pics soon !
then you'll sell it to me, miami
If you've got a GF-9696 and an M-70 to trade in for sure
!
