Hi Guys,
My name is Brian & I'm from Brisbane in Australia.
I recently got all nostalgic when I dug out a box of cassettes that my mother had in storage, For the life of me I can't locate my GF 555 from that era, I suspect one of my siblings might have it :-)
So here I am with no Boomboxes at all, I am going to put some effort into locating a 555 and maybe pick up a few boxes on the way. Hitachi and Sharp are on my hit list. I have a few thrift shops nearby.
I like this forum, so much info, although I am so far very away from the good stuff.
Eggs suck!
Thanks for looking in.
Brian
Welcome to the forum, Terry.
I hope you find some boxes to kick start your collecting. The Sharp GF-555 is a classic box, we know it well.
...welcome aboard and happy hunting!!
ye welcome to the site terry, if sharps are half as popular as they are here in the uk, you should,nt have a problem locating a 555, i once had 1 and i found it a very respectable box

Thanks for the welcome guys, I actually have some 80's home audio equipment, NAD, Yamaha, Pioneer etc, also a couple of 70's National Panasonic shortwave radio's.
Unfortunately I know nothing about keeping this great old gear going, however until it all dies I'll keep listening.
I'll post up some pics as I go.
Terry.
guday mate.....i have a cousin called brian in bisbane....is yourlast name darley...just on the of chance.....
yeah but your missing a true boombox-get a nice one and your laughing
@ davebush:
Sorry Dave, I'm not your cousin. Is he a BBX head?
@ andy v:
Not any more andy, today I hit the garage/yard sales for a couple of hours and came back with 5 little boxes for a total of AU$18.00, the best being a Sanyo M9302F that came up a treat with a couple of hours cleaning off 25 years of accumulated grunge and nicotine, (yuk, and double yuk)the tape deck turns but doesn't play,(belts?) but the sound that comes out of this box is pretty sweet. The other boxes will go on ebay to fund further purchases..... :-)
Welcome Brian, I new myself....Well I have been around for a while but just never posted till Now....
I hope you get your GF555 it's a nice box...
Regards
any pics for us jay t??
Welcome Brian!
And welcome out of the lurkers closet Jay-T.
If I had a big Sharp somewhere in the family, I'd be putting out some low key feelers to see who snagged it. You might just save yourself a cool thou
sand...
I too have lots of old 80's gear. I think the secret to keeping it up is just hitting it with DeOxit once in awhile, plug it in and use it, old cassette decks, like BBX's, should be played once in awhile.
Lots of our members here love the 70s/80s gear.

Hi Terry
I have a couple Quad albums,a "Welcome to Quad" demonstration album, and Rick Derringer's, Rock'n'roll Hoochie Coo... The separation is amazing and very directional, but the Quad emulators make even stereo sound expanded. That big Sansui can push eight speakers, no problem...
I don't have the Pink Floyd in Quad, but someone just gave me a copy of the remaster on heavy vinyl, with original gatefold and all the posters and stuff inside. Sounds fantastic.
well done on the purchases mate-they are your first-they woulnt be your last, i promise you!!!!
Hey Terry, welcome to The Family!!! There's lots of Boombox experts here that can help you find what you're looking for!!!
Good Luck to you!!!
