Looking around here sparked an interest I hadn't had for quite a long time. I'd always been a radio nut, but boxes hadn't been my thing for many years. I had managed to hang on to two old Radio Shack boxes from my youth (SCR-2 and SCR-6) neither of witch I've used very much because I didn't find them all that impressive.
Then I picked up the new Lasonic just for kicks and came on here looking for information about it. The next thing you know I'm at the local drive-in looking for boxes more or less to see what all the fuss is about.
Alright. You did it. I found one that blows my sucks off. Thanks to you people I know have the box bug.
Ok, now that I've written War and Peace what about the box?
I love this box. Picked it up for cheap at the drive-in this morning and brought it home. Not expecting too much out of it I plugged it in and st there amazed. This almost thirty year old General Electric sounds really amazing. I had no idea that these things could sound that good. I mean maybe some super expensive JVC or something, but certainly not some middle of the road GE. Boy was I wrong.
The radio seems to be right up there with some of my best "long distance" and short wave radios and even better than some that are held in high regard by people who are into DX (long distance reception). I wasn't expecting that either.
I had to modify the tape recorder a bit to get it going again at a cost of loosing rewind and automatic search, but I'm thankful that I could get it to work at all.
Thank you for opining my eyes to a fascinating and very rewarding hobby that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. You can bet that I'll be keeping my eyes out for more.

Those snack bar burgers are only for the truly brave, although the pizza ain't half bad.
Some of them even still run movies though the porn days are long gone. I"m not sure who would want to see such a thing on a fifty foot tall screen anyway.

Oh I think I've already done for. I'm already a terrible pack-rat as it is and it looks like it's about to get much worse.
And thanks for the welcome.

Is that one of those thin things? If so it looks interesting enough. If the "Blockbuster" is any indication of it's performance I'll bet it's a good one. I'll definitely be on the lookout for that one.
And thanks for the welcome.
no problemo
