I just talked about the Philips units ... I think that they are the best looking units they ever produced ...
Shure there are a lot of other great looking units out there ...
Best wishes
TOM
very nice philips units tom
they look quality through and through.
but im sorry i have to disagree
below is the philips d8614 from 1982, and in my opinion is the nicest looking philips ever made
and is a high quality unit
hey lav, last week i saw one of those for sale at a yard sale, is very light so i left it there, is the greenish/blue color.
but your silver one looks great.
TOM, the d8714 looks good, would like to have one but with the fm tuner that goes upto 108.
hey DT, it isn,t the heaviest box, but believe me sound quality is excellent
also, i have been busy last few days but i have,nt forgot the power cable
i will send it out monday, sorry for the wait

driptip, what you are toking about?
the FM scale it is in whole range, but it goes from right to left direction. That is unique characteristic of the D8714.

I wish that I had the microphones for mine.
It is one of my most cherished boxes and I never let anyone touch it. Ever.
Cheers OSS
I never got into its looks.......I agree with lav loo, I'd rather have an 8614

yess they doo look odd,but i would still have one,but they are too damm rare and expensive, looks like everyone bloody wants one..
Yes, they are rare - but if you find one, most of them the power switch has gone ... or the buttons of the tuner section has fallen into the bbox or they are missing (8814 model) ...
But the smaller 8714 (silver unit) is rarer than the big 8814. I don't know why, but that's the way it is. I got the original broshure, but has no prices in it. Would love to know what those mashines had cost in 1979 ...
Best wishes

good taste RELI
those philips boxes are nice - real quality back then as was the d8614 - i remember them very well from 82 shame philips quality went downhill thereafter - all that "moving sound" nonsense they produced i liked the look of some of the stereo's that followed after 1982 but they were never made to the high standard of these earlier machines

That's right - before you found real metal fronts, alu knobs in a great production quality. The newer models just had chromed plastic ...

I've been searching a vile, and something about the year of production it's not clear for me
Tom, you says 1979, but
heresays that the year of production is 1982, for all 3 models-D8614; D8714 and D8814
im glad you posted that Devol, i thought they was all 1982, thanks
You are right, they are all produced in 1982 - my mistake. By the way: what a great web-side (http://wegavision.pytalhost.com/).
looks like philips produced their best boxes in 82 then, without any doubt

it's certainly clear enough to see they both share the same chassis - i guess the lesser model just has a few omissions featurewise as well as the analog tuner......lcd digital tuner on a portable was amazing in 1982!
