Sad to hear. I saw him with Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow back in the 80's. What a dynamic frontman!

The first time I saw him might have been The Last in Line Tour or the album after that. Incredible stage show, lot's of laser's (remember those?) and two giant (maybe 20'?) robots fighting on stage and blowing each other apart. I have never seen anything like it since.

Over the years I've probably seen 6 more shows including a few club shows and then the last time was the Black Sabbath reunion three years ago. Even in his 60's he still had a great voice and stage presence.

Doesn't seem that long ago that he was burning up MTV with the Rainbow in the Dark Video, one of the few hard rock songs on the station at the time.
