hello gang
sorry to say this now but rather than just drop off the radar,i thought id explain myself.
after such a boombox drought its unbelievable, im thinking of calling the hobby quits.i mean dont get me wrong, i love boomboxes-a hell of a lot more than i ever loved classic cars-but i cant do with this lack of finds-and when stuff is about its either really tacky, cheap end tiny stuff or bigger stuff, but just too late.ive never had massive luck in the finds department, but its never been this bad.
and theres no way to ebay,folks-i dont have a lot of money, and even saving up would take soooo long, just for one.and the battle for me on there is not part of the fun.not when i lost an m9990 by a couple of quid, because i couldnt access a computer in time.
i guess you could say i started the hobby too late, missed the last boat to the mainland as it were.
seriously-what is the state of things?is it just me or are others of you fed up too?
i could give it a bit longer, but how much longer does it take???

you need to put the effort in for stuff like this, i dont know where you got this idea that ghettoblasters are/were/should be easy to get hold of. never been the case, never been cheaper either

stick in there andy, ive been collecting for 10 years now to get where i am, i to dont have much money to spare so what ive done is buy other stuff at car boots(that i know fetch's good money on ebay) and spend the proffits on boomboxes, thats how i got most of my high end boxes including an m90 and a conion c100.
Awww c'mon andy, us new guys need the benefit of your old skool guy experience.
ye come on andy stay put, were all loving the pics you keep posting
billy.the.binman - 2010-05-16 03:18
yep, you get out of it what you put in.
oh wait a minute...
Even the best of us only ever bag a couple of keepers per year TOPS so you just gotta keep plugging away and the odd find will turn up.
Geoffs got it right buy and sell to raise funds for the top machines .
the only thing I really want/need is a Big JVC RM70. Had one once and sold it for 40.00.
I guess I will have to pay close to top dollar for another one day, but with the economy, I won't be even thinking about buying it for a long time.
My littlel collection will suffice. I just sold one Boombox on ebay in fact, first time Ive ever sold one on ebay.I think I'll keep the rest though , but i do like coming here and checking out stuff, and also seeing the Walkmans and other intersting topics.
Like they say,,If you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with..haha
ok gang.maybee i will hang out a little
That's the spirit
we knew you was'nt leaving anyway andy, come on now stop attention seeking
oi me old mate-
ill make sure she makes the bacon really salty in your bellybuster-you woulnt stop drinking coke all day
well thanks a lot that's very kind of ya andy, i hope you never get a job in a cafe you'd be responsible for a lot of health complaints
Ha Andy mate - i guess we all go though this sort of thing - some more than others
it may be for all sorts of reasons
moving
lack of money
new hobbie
bills
lack of boxes around
change of style
type of box collected
ilness
brake up
loss of love one
loss of own life !
loss of eyes and ears
for me not beingh around so much was due to money and new house to do
have a brake and come back in a while - if you are waiting for people to post then it's time to take it easy
collecting boxes is not a quick thing - if you had all you boxes you wanted, what would you do
it's a waiting game
cheers B
