having just scored a virtually mint sharp gf6161 off my man mansion,thought id do a bit of a review for you:
first off, heres a pic of the 6161:

LOOKS AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS
the 6161 was the direct replacement for the gf6060,and as such resembles that model, in every respect but the grille style.the grilles feature a lovely hard black plastic round pattern,the woofers themselves are black with black centre dust caps.its not unfamiliar to the us spec 6060 in grille style.overall fantastic looking,hard as hell in appearance that would have been ideal for outside activities.
SWITCHGEAR AND FUNCTION
this model utilises its basic switchgear very well-being well laid out, ideally located and easy to use.i must say though on a bit of a negative note-why did sharp give the band selector knob a silvered finish,and yet all the other switches are black?this cheapens slightly the look of an almost perfect looking boombox.
SOUND QUALITY
you must remember that the gf6161 was quite a low spec model in sharps 1981 range, but you wouldnt believe it as you switch the 6161 on.whilst it hasnt got bags of bass,it has enough to impress-but the treble-or highs as it were,are the clearest ive heard on any box ive ever owned.all in all i have better sounding machines.....but not many!!!!
OVERALL IMPRESSIONS AND VERDICT
sharp knew what they were doing with this one.it looks impressive, and sounds as good too-basically if you can find one,you should own one-or at a push get a us spec gf6060,which is nion the same machine.a highly reccomended unit for sure, sharps gf6161.
