I'm not going to say what I paid. Some of you would kill someone for a price like I paid. It was all dirty and It cleaned up nice. few marks here and there but mostly the gray rubbed off lower corners a little but you dont see it unless your looking. I don't see any digs or scraps. It's multi voltage 110/120/220/240 50/60Hz. has a 12 volt plug to run off a car battery. sw1/sw2/am/fm/auto reverse cassette deck. it's a good sized radio.
the back of the radio says model no RC-880JW It list all the voltages and says made in Japan.
I touched the foam on the inside of the battery door and it fell apart. I cleaned it all off so it wouldnt get peaces of it inside the radio. What kind of foam should i get to replace the old foam?
well it wasn't free but try to guess what I paid.
can you put a pic up jay?? not sure what the 880 looks like
you gotta spill the beans on the price too
i want to see what people guess. I know what they normaly go for on ebay. I was trying to to act to excited at the fleamarket. I even talked the guy down on the price.
The cassette deck was working and now it stopped i think it needs new belts. Were do you find belts for a jvc boombox?
i found the belts on
http://www.partstore.com it takes two a main belt and a counter belt. 5.95 each and with shipping comes to $19.85 . anyone know of a better place to buy them? I think thats high shipping for something that can be shipped for the price of a stamp.

pics of the new box is what we want jay..show us some pics man !!
It still needs some more cleaning but i just gave it a quick cleaning. i need to reglue the rc-880 name tag on the front the one that says dolby system. it's starting to come off on the right side. not sure what kind of glue to use.
thanks for the pics jay, nice mid sized box, looks good with ad stickers on
i still have the ad sticker on my m80.
im guessing you payed about £10 from a flea market, but i bet im way out
Great find, I always thought this box a bit cheeky, I mean, look at the size of those grilles compared to the actual speakers. All fart and no poo if you ask me but in this condition, who's arguing?
ok I paid 4 us dollars. so i guess thats about 3.32 euro.
I went ahead and opened it up today to find out the belts are in good shape. I started to look things over and found a cold solder joint. after soldering it I have been playing it for the last hour. It sounds good. since I had it opened I removed the speaker grills and cleaned under them. I also went ahead and cleaned the inside. had a little bit of dust on the inside but it wasn't that bad. all capasitors look good. I dont see any dark spots on any boards. normaly you see dark spots on power supplies from heat but I dont see any. I guess JVC used to make good boomboxes back in the day. all cassette player gears look good. the cassette player parts look like they are built like a tank.
