How are you getting such a nice finish? Also, do you strip down and mask off & if so, do you remove the top metal strip?

...I strip it down to bare plastic. After I strip it down I clean it with orange glo to remove all dirt. Then I sand and rough parts or scratches with 400 grit sand paper and follow that up with 600 grit for a smooth finish. After sanding I wash it off with dish soap and warm water. After drying I apply 3 coats of paint, drying each coat with a hair dryer, then I apply 3 coats of clear gloss. I let it cure for a week and then polish the whole thing with car wax for a smooth, glossy finish. Here are some pics of the original radio and when I stripped her down...
