Great Thread!
I have to say after reading all of these posts that I do want to hit the streets!
BUT...BUUUUT I really think the idea of just walking down the street with a radio POUNDING would be so offensive to people, mostly because our culture (if you can call it that) has evolved so inward and is so "Selfish" with their "Personal Space" and other bullsh@t. That it wouldn't fly!
I do take my radio's out. I take them to friends houses, I take them to parties.
The other day I was walking at the beach and heard music. There were two teen age boys, both with their bikes leaning against a block walk, I saw a back pack laying on the ground and I thought, "Hell yeah, one of them has a blaster!"
NOPE a lame mp3 player with 2 speakers the size of tennis balls, crackling a high pitched squeal being that was being washed away by the sound of the surf!
-L-A-M-E-
Maybe I'm way off, maybe it's time we DO take to the streets and teach these kids what they don't know!
That BLASTERS should once again rules the streets!
Chris, it was considered "offensive" back in the day. The only thing that's changed is the operating system. We went from boxes to car stereos, and I still hear cats drive by all the time blasting theirs. I remember when having loud-ass headphones for your walkman was the thing. Now those loud-ass headphones are hooked up to mp3 players and smartphones.
The way I see it, if people like it, fine... If they don't, f*ck 'em!
I'm kinda getting too old to care anymore.

Thanks, man!
Yeah, the 999 is an attention getter, without question!
mono is right --
my 999 sees plenty of street action
Wasn't there a photo of Miaminized on the subway with one?

"The kids are alright"!
The TC-999 club is an exclusive one...
But yeah, Redbenjoe, you mentioned it before and you're absolutely right... The TC-999 is THE BEST big box ever made!

I'd most definitely like to see that!
Found it.
Oh, Miaminized is a chick!
Nice pic, but certainly not the full body and box shot I was hoping for.
Thanks for posting, Retro.

This is turning out to be a great thread, very interesting and inspiring! Walked down by the main road in the village where I live with my excuse for a ghetto blaster, and I think generally people welcomed it and thought it was great! I think some lads in a car were jeering but not really bothered - Although I don't have any batteries at the moment so was just carrying it down to my friends to plug in, and an old man I walked past said 'you should be blasting some music out from that!'
Made my day!
Hahar, awesome!
That sounds like a case of Opposite Day if ever I've heard it!
I've always wondered about the whole thievery factor. I mean if your holding you're boomer shouldn't really have much trouble from scumbags unless they want to roll you. Always wondered how it went down with breakers though. Just having their box sitting their on the footpath and all. I mean there's some boxes with alarms but really, how effective were/are they?

i live in a rough area, idiots round here dont have any respect for the police, they have no morrels,no care for anything, and if they see anything, they think they can just take it,they dont just keep the hands and thoughts to themself, its like that all over the uk..years ago in the 80s up until the early 90s,i took a ghetto every where i went, but i could see the change, criminal kids started started popping up and it started going down hill, and its got worse ever since..now uk is a bad place to live..some area's are ok,but most of the place is riddled with crime...
G,MAN, most of the little scrotes are just wannabe gangsters though mate
i will take my boxes out and no little street rat will stop me
if someone tried havin my box off, i would put it over their f**kin head no messin
That's a good point - if things ever get that serious, bash 'em with it!
Another thing to do is smash it on the ground... The way I see it, if I can't have it, YOU CAN'T EITHER! Unless he's strapped with a gun, I'll be damned if I give an assclown the satisfaction of strolling off with my box!
good stuff MONO, that,s the attitude
i can,t see someone pointing a gun at you in the UK for a box
a blade maybe, but not a gun.
the chances of anybody wanting to take your box in the first place is pretty low, think about it, these street rats want a quick fix and the only way their gonna get that is by stealing stuff where there,s quick money to be made.
their not gonna try and run off with a 10kilo box which they probably would,nt be able to sell, unless they know of the epay value, which i doubt very much
That makes much sense to me.
It's not like drug dealers are up on the boombox value game.
Here, I could see twenty-somethings and under wanting the box for themselves, especially after seeing boxes displayed in videos, commercials and movies. In that case, I can't see a one on one confrontation happening, but 2 or more on one is a definite possibility.
everything you say there is bang on

LAV,MONO...
this is my old street where i used to live, the group is on facebook....
http://www.facebook.com/group....03&v=wall&ref=searchYou just have to Read what people on there say,and there attitude..on and dont forget to scroll down and look on the left, some videos of a.s.s holes in stolen cars,in the video, there are 2 stolen cars, they are smashing the cars into street lights, the reason..because the police put a camera up because of the amount of crime around there..my house was just on the far corner..just giving you an idea what my area is like...i lived there for 10 years, house bound..
ye just clicked the link G,MAN, gorton looks a nice place to be
that kind of thing is going on all over the UK
it,s bad enough where i am but gorton defo has a worse rep
where did these little inbreeds come from?? they should all crawl back under the rock they sprang from under, life would be better for everyone then, maggots

lav,did you see the pictures and videos ? the place is a complete shlthole..police always there for something or other, its just typical of council estates mate,i never wanted to move there but my other half wanted to move round there to be closer to her dad..i managed about 9 years or so,it took its toll,we was together 19 years, but that cr@phole did'nt help..
Indeed mate, and you are absolutely right to not be carrying a box around in that area. I was brought up in a similar envorinment to that, but I met a good girl and went to uni to break the chain and there is no chance in hell I would carry a box around there, through there or even 5 miles in its radius.
Where I am now though is a different story, when I get home from holiday (just landed and settled in w00t) I'll be taking snaps of us down the parks with a box or two (weather permitting) and enjoying every minute of it because in the back of my mind I know where I came from and where I am now.

no i did,nt watch the vids G,MAN, i read the posts and that was enough
seeing and hearing about all this crap makes me kind of depressed.
i fear for my 3 kids growing up in this world, i don,t think it will get better, only worse.
anyway sorry for going off topic GHETTOBLASTER
im.out.of.hear - 2010-07-25 19:42
yes guys,i have 4 kids,my oldest lad will be 21 in september,he has got no job,no prospects,same with my 19 year old..and i have a 7 year old,i fear for his future..the future does'nt look good..
doc, will look forward to see some of your holiday snaps
Last thing about this then we can flip the script back to a positive trip. That Ryderbrow Road page with all its "vidz" does my head in. It saddens my heart to think that crap can go on in the world. We had a big riot a couple of years back in a housing commission in a place by the name of Macquarie Fields
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2...cquarie_Fields_riotsMe and a mate of mine even took the piss out of it at the time Photoshopping this picture that went email viral overnight
http://www.hearye.org/media/2005/new_gta.jpgAnyhow, I mean that's probably some of the worst Australia has seen. It's seems a pretty regular occurrence over in the UK. Makes me think maybe that movie Harry Brown wasn't exactly completely fiction. I don't even know anything about the stuff that goes on in certain parts of the U.S
Anyhow..back to boomers. I look forward to shedding off this grey winter crap and hit the beach this Summer..nearly all Summer with a box and an esky full of cold beverages

Maybe if you guys actually allowed guns, the crime rate would be lower. Certainly breaking & entering would be lower. I don't agree with your laws at all. But that's a subject for another thread.
i gotta disagree here RELI
you say the crime rate here in the UK may be lower if guns was made legal, i can,t see that doing anything apart from giving people more ammo to break even more laws.
what i do agree with you on is most of our laws are stupid
and the punishment for serious crime here is a months holiday in the bahamas
seriously there,s no detterent what so ever, prison here is like a holiday camp, you guys do a proper job in the US
our government is to blame for this... the bunch of muppets
but their not bothered you see cos they don,t have to live amongst it all
their all tucked away in their nice big cosy houses in their nice big safe areas, they don,t give a crap about the general public, they have their own secret agenda, and it does,nt involve keeping the public safe
im.out.of.hear - 2010-07-26 03:38
i agree with lav on this, our prisons are a laugh, the prolific career criminals over here enjoy going to prison because most of there mates are in there, and some actually prefure being in prison because they get a roof over there heads, they get to stay in there cell most of the day, they get digital tv,they can take there belongings in there, hang out with there mates, its more like luxery than prison & punishment..as for guns,i dont think you need to legalise guns over here, all you got to do is come to manchester, you will find plenty of guns, but not held by good people, all the crims have them..
oh and here is news of 3 murders in manchester, just in one weekend, one of them, martain galagher went to my school,he was a few years below me..
http://menmedia.co.uk/manchest..._of_violence?rss=yesAnd yes bunyip, that ryderbrow page, with its pictures and disgusting videos is a disgrace,i had to live on that street and put up with that nonsence for about 9 years,it made me ill..
i reported that page more than once but facebook did'nt do nothing about it..
ye i got these stories on the news G,MAN, thanks for the link.
all too often is type of thing going on
and you don,t even have to open your mouth these days to get killed by some scumbag
shocking stories, very sad
Seriously, look at this twa* who started the Ryderbrow page. He looks like something that fell out of East 17's hole
http://www.facebook.com/group....l&ref=search#!/EazidBut yes, I'm all for going off on tangents but for the sake of linearity perhaps we should discuss something in regards to the crime thing in co-relation to boomboxes
I'd like to read something the people from the U.S here in regards to break dancing and not getting your box stolen. Especially back when the whole scene was coming together

Did you know in austria they allow citizens to have a gun in their home and it is legal to shoot a burglar.. and unlike over here with the self defence rule so long as its a burglar, its legal to shoot them. Over there crime rate is much lower.. most likely its not worth being shot to make a few ££
Anyway, I must say I have had to deal with a lot of scum but fortunately I have been brought up in a safe area that I can go out in every day with no worries
to be honest GHETTOBLASTER, i don,t think it makes much difference where you live these days
look at that mad gunman in the lake district who shot dead 12 random people the other month, then last month in the north east, again a quiet village, there was RAOUL MOAT another nutcase killer
peter.griffin - 2010-07-26 06:46
I haven't carried and played my boombox while walking down the street. however, I have been bringing my Sony FH-5 to my friends B-ball court, and blasting some "old-school". We've had strangers just walk up to us and talk about the the "old days"
I brought it down to the lake front the other day. Just to sit in the sun. I was playing a mix from a friend of mine. It was just the sony and my buddy when we got there. When I opened my eyes like 30mins later, there were a lot more people just hanging around our area, enjoying the tunes
Good to hear the boombox's still got the knack to bring people together
im.out.of.hear - 2010-07-26 07:36
heyyy carvin..where you been mate, looong time no post..thought you'de left stereo2go ? good to see you posting again

Just dealing with what life throws at me. I'll never forget my favorite hobby

Exactly why guns should be legalized......The bad guys will always have them, whether they're illegal or not. At least give the good people a chance to own them as well.
hey RELI, i never looked at it in that light...excellent point you,ve just made
do you want to come over here and run our country
I dunno, who is my competition? Haven't paid much attention since Bush's lackey Blair left
ye well the guy we got now is worse than blair
he,s called david cameron and he,s a tw*t

I am thinking of taking my JVC M70 to the KISS concert on saturday July 31 in Hershey ,PA and hang out and tailgate with KISS tunes playin' thru the blue woofers!
peter.griffin - 2010-07-30 05:08
Take some pictures Matrix
I'm taking a boombox to my friends annual pool party, it's been tradition I provide music for this party for the past 4 years
Everyone gets a kick out of seeing a massive boombox providing the tunes
matrixambience - 2010-07-30 07:19
Awesome PF!!! Which one you bringin'?
peter.griffin - 2010-07-30 07:30
GF 777z baby!!
Last year was the M90, everyone commented on that one
Matrix and PG, a few more and you'll have a revival going around here.
Matrix I figure you would only bring one of your 63 RX5085(?) or you know the model I mean!!!
matrixambience - 2010-08-03 15:56
Aww man, times have surely changed!! I now have 4 boomboxes... 2 JVC RC-M70's, 1 Panasonic RX-5080, and 1 Panasonic RX-DS45 egger.....and now NO MORE RX-5050's!
I don't carry these thing around.
A few weeks ago i showed a M 90 to the neighbour
He saw a few times now that big boxes got delivered by the courier and was a bit curious what was in them. He was quite surprised by the size and weight of these things
