well -- there is no $$ cut in it for me
but there is some ego involved -
the author came down to florida this past march to photograph many of our members boxes -
several dozens of our winners are in there
i would love a copy myself, read the review, sounds very good, there is just no way for me to get a copy, shame it,s not on sale at WH SMITHS

Do we know any more about the book, according to the website it has 17 photos of boomboxes, surely there's more tp it than that. Is it one of those 'boombox culture' book with the usual array of album covers & BITD pics with breakdancers etc?
isn't this the guy in this video below that was suppose to write a book like that ?

Checked the above video & I like this guy, his favourite box is the GF-9696, that cuts it in my books.
I'm going to buy this.
Fingers crossed it meets expectations as it looks like a great book, shame he couldn't get a more glabal view on the phenomena.

Of course, but an M9998 isn't what I'd call a street box.....It's too heavy, too expensive, and it's got those feet sticking out. It's a shelf/studio type of unit.

I Just Got the book it has really good pics the boomboxes looked like they wanted 2 pop out of the pages
yup --the author has won several worldwide
photography awards.
Mine arrived yesterday and I will be spending the day reading it with some music in the background from my Sanyo M9994k...
picked up mines today in barnes & noble...they only had one in the shelf!!!...i grabbed it so quickly...lol....a must have for collectors...awesome pics and history!! a true gem...i hope theres a sequal...
after meeting up with DOCS to do a box trade, i got the chance to have a sneak preview of he,s copy, it looked awesome so i have asked DOCS to order me a copy and he has agreed (CHEERS DOCS) can,t wait to recieve it, im waiting in anticipation

Love this book man, and was stoked to see a double page picture of my first and most loved boombox - the Philips D8714.
Love the general gritty feel of the whole book, including the isolated boombox photographs which are not all shiny perfect boxes but rather units that might have witnessed some of the street culture which the book focuses on . . .
