Before: Please don´t expect an luxury boombox!
You would be disappointed!
Some members will know my search about an tiny PHILIPS 170, my very first boombox of the 80´s.
It was only lent by a friend´s mother and i must give it back in the ending 80´s.
In 1994 i found on flea a very rampaged exemplar.
Tape dead (this s*it box is nearly impossible to rebelt...)
Parts missing....
I used it in my military time, then stored away.
Waiting for an better one.
A time ago i found this aka, a HORNYPHON in very good condition!
Search goes on...
Then member "blinddarm" found for me a 170 on ebay and got it for me.
Was very happy.
But when the parcel arrived, big disappointment.
Box is a wreck inside.
Must have dropped bad, everything smashed inside.
Not worth a repair....
But dont get me wrong: absolute not normans fault!!
Then 2 weeks ago i was on the caritas flea.
A flea where things of residence cleanings get sold.
Most of died people or those who changes residence...
Look at the electronic storage:
see nothing interesting?
Same on me.
But at the 3. look...
And here we go
Few rampages, but working
Funny , the aerial top missing like on my old one..
And then the great shock!
There is a green color dirt inside the tapedoor!!!!
Nothing special?
For sure special!!
The same color dirt was on my first one.
No idea what from it is,but i can´t believe there would be a 2nd box with exact the same color dirt inside.
Fact: to 99,9% this IS my first boombox!!!!!
Here a comparo with a box i got for norman
Final a family shot with all 4 boxes
Maybe the most tiny, but wonderful find for me ever.
Had tears in my eyes.
Now the smashed box get parted, to make mine perfect.
And then the one of the military time.
The HORNYPHON will need no restauration.

Those are cool boombox looks all heavy duty like its gone threw some battles Great story iam glad you found your boombox

nice story glad you finally found your grail, congrats VS

that is awesome! i love hearing stories like that of massive coincidence!
heard one where a girl in the 1960s went to france on holiday from the US and found a book in a bookshop which was one she fondly remembered as a child, she opened the book and it had her name in it, it was the very same book she had when she was younger. bit like your radio story.
congrats man!

I am very happy for you. The fickle finger of fate strikes again.
One is sure, this box will never leave again.
Maybe it will go into my grave one day...

btw: the greatest pleasure - i got it for "free"
Bought it with an vintage ventilator (for a friend) for 5euros.
Sold the ventilator for 5euros.
> box free

Hornyphon? Now there's a name.
