In my view it's a shame that our unique passion has to be spread across two sites, let's face it, there aren't many people in the world into this great hobby. But for whatever reason, there are two sites, and both can be supported.
totally
Right on AO, my sentiments exactly.

Considering that about 20% of your posts on this site are in this thread alone, forgive us if we don't consider your opinion as having much merit.
Really sad to see people whining instead of posting about the hobby. Whether you do it out in the open here, or behind closed doors over there, just do it!
never been to boomboxery like, seriously. Ill stick with S2G cause i would never have the time to read all topics and comments.
any body ever seen or heard this box ?
i got it for free it's 42" long loud just about the loudest box i ever heard i know it's a piece of crap but it actually sounds decent and everything works oh it's a helix hx 905.
hey JVC FLOYD, i am sure i have seen that box but not branded helix, i think member HIFITOM has the one iv'e seen, i have also seen a sanyo which is very similar, especially that unique speaker design
very good catch for free, well done
the bass and treble from this box is insane you would never think so by looking at it but it sounds decent and mind blowing loud for a hunk of plastic ,i didn't even have to leave my house to get it , my friend brought it to my house.

sorry just stating the obvious on why it is a ghost town around here. i don't have time to post thousands of comments like you i work and cant be on the computer nonstop.
another reason that not many ppl post is b/c when somebody is new they tend to be ganged up on and talked down to just like you did to me stating my opinion does not have any merit. this makes new members afraid to post anything. so now i will get ready to read some smartass remarks from everyone about my opinion but its fine
Let's not turn this great thread into another flaming war. Your welcomed here l1, and feel free to post anytime
Yeh, tell us more about why you happened across s2g, what boomers you have/want. We're a friendly bunch really...
welcome aboard the house of madness mate....where are you in the world, what boxes have you got / want....got any pics to post and finally can you lend me a tenner....ha only jokin.....were all nice on here....its just sometimes its time of the month if ya know what i mean
hey DAVE, i want his boxes not a tenner
transwave5000 - 2010-11-05 14:03
He's right we do get snarky at times.
If your a newbie post a pic of what you got
and will take a look see
ye it sometimes gets a bit heated but don't let it bother you, try and ignore it, when all said and done, it's all in good fun really, this place has some real top blokes and gals on here, iv'e loved every minute of being amongst all you guys, and got to meet a good few members and let me tell you...these are some of the nicest people i have ever met, it's just a shame we can never meet the overseas guys
Why don't the boombox boards let people read threads without signing up? I belong to many types of boards (car, motorcycle, skiing, etc) and I've never seen that approach before. Seems a little odd.
I often wondered about that myself, it might be a security feature within the forum software itself. Maybe an admin like Fatdog or S2go can answer that question.
My opinion is that it hampers the expansion of our hobby, since it hurts the ability of non-members to learn about boomboxes and see that there are lots of people who enjoy them. Just my opinion. I know I personally dislike signing up for a board, it's one more username and password I have to dream up and write down.

So, nobody said that your opinion had no merit, just not much based upon what you have mostly participated in here. As in, when most of your posts have zero to do with boomboxes, making negative comments about the site tends not to hold much water to longer term members that actually like being here, know what I mean?
Nobody held a gun to your head and forced you not to participate in threads that actually have to do with the hobby instead of taking up residence in one that really doesn't. So.....
Take everyone's advice (including mine), and post away..... about boomboxes. Show us your collection, talk about ones you like, or ask questions about ones you don't have, or why someone likes particular models, or styles, or how they decide upon which ones to collect. Geez, pretty much anything besides this crap.
I think that's pretty simple to understand without being offended

Simple answer, either site can be configured for anonymous access to any extent that the site operator prefers to set it to. As for s2go, I know that the hosting plan was kind of pricey with fairly limited caps on space: the company that this was originally set up with also had fairly modest data transfer limits before overage fees were charged.
Much has changed with that hosting company since this site was initially set up, I haven't kept up with their offerings, so caps on the hosting plans may have changed.
Regardless of those limits, the site could be configured to allow non-registered users to access full content on the site. Any site under any web hosting site can do the same, it's simply up to whoever runs it to configure to their preferred settings.
Eh
.
my thoughts too LITFAN
we need to put a wall of boxes

For him to have the knowledge he does, he was probably a member a long time ago, but he got banned, or maybe he simply changed his name because he doesn't want his former identity known.

thats right Reli, thats just what i was thinking.

(yawn)
I'd say that, based upon the date that the account was created, we probably have some regular from over at Boomboxery, who is a longer term member here, hiding behind the account. I know that some of their holier-than-thou members created additional accounts based upon their IP's and machine info that the site tracked at around that time, but who knows.
Hark, who hides there?
lol the chatroom police in full force. you pf need to go outside and enjoy the sunshine a little but spending most of your life in front of a computer screen is ok too...i guess. you are blowing my comment way out of proportion really.
hey come on guys, it's gettin a little silly now
agreed tell that to pf seems he likes to agitate ppl for fun.
im really not sure cos i can't understand half of what he's saying really, but you guys could take this elsewhere im sure

Kinda like you did in this thread?
panasonic.fan - 2010-11-15 13:33
Exactly.....
why do some people persist in carrying on with negativity?? surely we can let this issue be resolved in a more mature manner, instead it seems more like playground squabble.
now come on guys, kiss and make up for crying out loud

cuz it's fun
negativity is never fun RELI
fun can be had in many other ways, i would say it's kind of ruined this topic
No offense, but this is exactly why there are two boombox sites now. All the unnecessary attacks on our fellow members forced them to jump ship, and after being away from the site for about two years, I see nothing has changed. We need positive reinforcement to keep this forum going.
Retro you are 100% right!
GUYS lets start being more polite to each other, and also less sarcastic.

i know i wont be posting anymore on this site. really got rubbed the wrong way and felt like i was being attacked. if this is the way things work around here then its not for me. this is a free country and i have the right to speak my mind freely just as all of you do. so any info i need i will just be a lurker from now on. later dudes
Although I'm the first to admit that the bickering had pretty much killed this site off & with positive efforts of some great new members we are slowly getting back on track but really, this is a clear attempt by member l1 to derail this effort & to show Panasonic Fan in a poor light.
Sorry guys, but this is obvious. Please read the posts by 1I, he came here with a task & we've let him get away with it. He's demonstrated his excellent knowledge of boomboxes so why is he a new member? & now the above "well, if this is how you treat me, I'm outa here" post, come on people, we fell right into the trap!
Retro, LavLoo, Drip, sorry guys, I really wanted to let this one go but the facts are obvious. He's thrown in a grenade and ran & we're left licking our wounds. This person is laughing at us.
I'm not going to guess what his agenda is but I know the good guys over at Boomboxery wouldn't endorse this type of thing. Yes, we're down but let's not be kicked. Can I strongly suggest we put this behind us and move on?
