I've experienced that before. As soon as they get the idea that their current radio might be worth some money (by someone expressing interest in it) they keep hold of it. That's the only reason they can invisage us wanting that kind of elderly radio, for the intention of selling it on for a profit. Did you go with a replacement radio? I bet you was really annoyed if you did and they said no.quote:Originally posted by Samsnite:
Aargh, there was surely a different sound to the bell today... They werent too sure to get rid of the philips...

Yeah but the Sony is really ugly and the Philips is really nice looking, Arron. They might not see it as a fair swap. That said, the Sony is a lot more modern, has twin cassette decks, has a digital tuner with presets, and detatchable speakers. - Good luck, Samsnite!quote:Originally posted by LAV LOO:

well well, what do you know... Was at work again at the wood shop. Look at the time go, almost a year back since last time...
Incredibly enough the manager remembered me and me askin about the Philips! So he asked if i want it, i said (hell) yeah! Bring me another working one instead he said. OK, next day i brought a Philips with Turbo Bass (i guess i did not take a photo of it) with me, he said it is ok. So now the d8614 is at my place.
The only thing is they managed to fook it up quite bad, paint all over, missing carrying handle, cracked case, broken antenna... and so on. But hell, it looks cool anyway! And sounds awesome! Will post some pictures.

Here she is, in all her past glory...
does the cassette deck work? or has this succumbed to the
Brittle broken gear syndrom
Gee if Somebody had one of those gear's and
could/would send to Bredgeo for re-manufacturing - that
would be terrific...
Need 2 gears here ...

Send to WHAT? Do they make those gears there? I have a D8444 which suffers from the same problem. I'll try to get my hands on another one, which is - according to the seller - functioning properly. I could remove that gear and send it in. Or... will a cracked gear also do? You can still puzzle it to one part and measure all sizes and count the number of teeth etc etc.

The D8444 has a completely different gear as the D8614. Only thing they have in common is the shitty material they made of

I know by now, it has a different gear. I just asked a German gear manufacturer if they CAN make these gears and the well-known Sony DD centre gear. Let's see what happens... They seem to be specialized in small series!
