Love it Ira..He's doing great justice for the vintage ghetto blaster,i worry what will happen to my boxes when i'm gone,if this hobby goes big like it was in the 80s,i think and hope, that the younger generation will carry the torch after we have gone..

i don't know how old you are G,MAN? but i think by the time im gone, these boxes will be well and truely rotted away Big Grin

In my mind lav,i'm about my age,41,but my body is about a badly looked after 70 years old..
i reckon if looked after, these boxes will last years and years and years,i think they will out live us lot..

pioneer - 2010-12-20 06:38

Hi guy's if properly kept and cared for i see no reason for these boombox's to easily out live us all Winkthough when i do pass we have set aside the Clairtone 7980 to be 'Boomin' some oldschool flava at my funeral, the radio will be front and center, weird but very cool at the same time, god willing that's a long way off lol. Peace friend's

im.out.of.hear - 2010-12-20 06:46

hey pioneer, maybe you could make a sealed time capsual for it,yes i agree with you, these could easily out last us,like me,i'm 41 now,if i have another 30 years left, that would be cool, but if you think about it,you get alot of boxes that are 30+ years old and they still look as new as the day they were sold,so yes, looked after well, they can easily last another 30 years without any problem !!

lav.loo - 2010-12-20 08:31

hey PIONEER, that's a very cool box to have at your funeral Nod Yes but ye, let's hope that's a very long way off Wink
and G,MAN you are right ye, thinking about it now these boxes probly will last years an years if looked after, personally i could'nt care less if i dropped dead now, the only things id'e really miss are my kids, and maybe my boxes a little, there's just too much doom in the world these days to enjoy life to the full, things are not looking good atall No No sorry for being so doomy, hope you guys are feelin a lot better than me today Big Grin great vid by the way IRA, sorry for going off topic Wink

Problem is you need to teach yourself to be a mechanic to keep these boxes alive, because I can't find any handymen in the yellow pages anymore. Confused

A couple of my boxes smell like a leaking capacitator, ane another must have a bad amp chip. And I've never even used a soldering iron before. Laugh Out Loud

if i told you my life story lav,e.g,how i was brought up and by who,how i lived (which is the reason my head has been a mess since i was a kid) you would understand lad..

Beleve me man,i know where your comming from and i know *EXACTLY* how you feel !! anxiety and depression is my life mate !!
I am almost tempted to give everyone a mini life story but i dont know what it will come accross like..

Reli,i've been in your situation myself, but not with a ghetto,it was a hifi that i really liked and i did'nt want to throw away,i tried every where to get it fixed, but because it was vintage,no shop would look at it for me,they are just not interested !!
