This one actually looks like an 80's box, but I think I'll pass.
IT reminds me of the double cassette sanyos
il'e pass here too, it may look 80's but the quality probably sucks
brigadier.vytas - 2011-01-03 23:55
at last it look's like classical box. But why to buy these cheapos, if we can get such real cheapos from the 80's for much cheaper? Btw, if they're stealing small Sanyo's design, why can't they steal some designs of some holy grails?
The quality looks so bad I'm surprised it can hold itself together.
Looks like some of that stuff coming from China that Jens used to find for us...
Thanks for sharing Blaster!
yw....kinda cool though
seems like each mp3 type box that comes out has its unique features...
lol, fake tweeters

jajaja very funny. true!!!
yeah it does look like a toy im not gonna front...but its the first with a cassette and sd/usb card combo of its kind....wish they came out with a quality box with all the bells and whistles of today and back in the day..many have tried but seems one is competing against each other in features...combining it with the retroness...
It's mono. Two speakers and an FM stereo light that says lit all of the time, but it's mono.
There's this thing too with three fake speakers and a 6 1/2" diver.
Cheap boxFor $32.50 it's tempting, but I still think I'll pass.

Look at the alignment of the transport keys, Barbie has a better quality boombox than this.

"the ERUMPET of the big..."
Ha, look at it's RC-550 style grab bars. Just what you need for a styrofoam boombox
Here is for yall to see a huge catalog of the china man´s boomboxes.

Odd at it may seem it has a
wood case.

Lol. Good point. I think people got used to cheap stuff, so the manufactures started meeting that demand. Back in the bad old days a good one would run you at the very least $150 or more than likely $200+ and that was in 1982 money. Now that's what? $600?
The funny thing is that you see some things on here held in high regard that were not exactly well built even back then.

Some of those look kinda cool. I wouldn't mind having a couple of those, especially the ones with a SD and USB port. They would be good for listing to podcasts on, anyway.
I leaned though the new Lasonic that it helps navigation to split podcasts down into 2 or 3 minute chunks for things that act like a CD player, and I'm sure these do.
I like the idea of having all the SW bands too. I'm sure they won't win any DX contest, bt it's fun to tune up and down the dials to head whatever out there.
Want a brand new Magnavox? Ok, so I don't either, but here it is:
New Magnavox Original These look like they could be worthwhile, if they're not mono, anyway.
EDIT: This is the same one the OP posted..and it's mono. Ooops.

http://www.alibaba.com/product...ni_Compo_System.htmlI'm sure it's all junk, but it would be fun to have something new to play with.

I'm sure Sony are real happy about this one:

brigadier.vytas - 2011-02-01 08:37
Looks like a jet engine, Isolator:]
This box is a 'remake' of the Sanyo M9818.
Sanyo M9818
Except they one-upped it with more knobs and tweeters.
Hate to say this but it actually looks better than the Sanyo
Has anyone bought one of these yet? I read robotnut's Amazon review for the wood case model above (+3 dB's post). It was very informative but his two-star grade seems a little harsh. It's amazing that they can sell this thing for less than $35.
Also, it's the first radio I've ever seen where the frequencies actually decrease as you move from left to right.
Nice to see you posting again stg or if i may call you paul..your boomboxcalculator sight is what i think brought most of us here...I remember about 7 years ago being BLOWN away by it and thats what started me collecting... THANK you soso much for that you gave to us all what I belive nobody else could..

The guys in China dont care one bit, we all saw that a number of years ago in the chinese car designs. Good design is expensive, so why not copy-paste?
It would be fun to test these boxes, in my opinion they ooze bad quality, just look at the mp3 players, only a couple of buttons to navigate gigabytes of mp3s... paaaain

I can't help but be curious myself.
As far as the backwards dial goes a lot of European radios used to be set up that way for some reason. The only one I can think of lately is the little Grundig Mini 100.
