ok guys, i thought id'e start a thread here about best memories with a box.
i was wandering what your best one is
mine would be the time i took my tec super jumbo out last year and i took it to a night club with my friend, just to see the reaction of people
i had lots of people come up to me wanting to take photos, and when i took it in the club, the bar staff was amazed by it and asked for pics too, and asked me if they could put it on show for the night behind the bar next to the drinks
i agreed and i have never seen so many people stare in amazement and ask so many questions.
all in all it was a great laugh and i was pretty drunk too which made it more fun
i don't really care what people think but that night was all positive and i had a great time.

That is a great story man, Well here is mine:
Back in 87 I had this big Electro Brand boombox that was big with small sound, Well I went to a school mates home to test aour boomboxes, He had the Hlix model of the Conion C-100F but was sounding bad, Everytime he would raise the volume it would cut off the sound, So he realize my boomer was louder and he ask me if I wanted to trade? I said sure, I took it and as I would to take the bus I sat and people were staring and making comment lke "Man that thing is big" As I sat to go home I tern the box around and realize the volts selector was set at 220v, When I set it to 120v, I just raise the volume and was shock of how loud this thing was, So people in the bus rapping to the beat of the music, It was hilarious, And was even amaze that everything was working, And that is one of my boombox time life stories of mine.
I still remember that like it was yesterday, I really which I can go back in time.

my memories were all great,from 1983 when i got my GF9500 for my 13th birthday,up through the 80s,and into the early 90s until i got too old to carry boxes round anymore..

and G'MAN, i must admit carrying the boxes around is not really a problem for me as i am quiet fit, at the moment that is but ye it would of been a lot more fun in the 80's, but having said this, i think boxes draw more attention now more than back in the day

My story is maybe this one:
It happened this summer, at our local music festival. It was a very hot day and we were chilling in the camping. We decided to take some more bottles from our car, which was pretty far away, so we took my Beston 4000 boombox. "let's play the dumbest lithuanian pop tune we have on ipod" - we thought. We were walking down the road , and on the right side of that road was other camping, the bigger one. We turned volume to the max and reaction was much better, than we expected - lot's of people stood up, they showed thumbs up, they laughed, started to sing that terrible song - all of them understood our joke:]. Even the reaction of bouncers was positive:]. "Joke is good, if it was said once", but when we finaly reached our car and took some more bottles, on the way back we played that tune again, everyone reacted in the same way:]. Shure, Beston with his size and sound did his job to:].

I shall always have fond memories of carrying my sharp gf1000 with my best friend on a fair night before he went seriously ill and passed away....i have loads of stories i could tell about individual boxes and there assosiated memories...sadly im to old to carry a box now....and it probbly would be frowned apon these days...

I think my favourite memory was when I was craving for a really super nice stereo for my birthday but Mum bought me a smallish twin deck unit with Speakers on the front and top, poop sounding and not that loud. I can't remember the brand but getting it and carrying it around the streets with some cardboard and crew is unforgettable. I used to compare it to a mates Hitachi which was bigger but just didn't have the same appeal.
Thinking about it I'm glad that it wasn't a huge one else it would have not come with us on the journeys battling other crews. I upgraded it after a few years for a spanking JVC PC77.

to me --no single box moment ever came close to one day -3 years ago- at the first sunshine mix ...

meeting a dozen cool members with 100 great boxes
was my most memorable thrill
