My apologies. I know it's not a boombox but it's about time someone beefed these things up.
2008 CES report herePictureless listing at JVC
Ugghh!
Those speakers remind me of Optimus Prime for some reason. JVC could do much better.

Hey! Don't pick on Optimus! He repairing some speakers for me so I say he looks great!
I think the guys from JVC need to spend a bit of time on this Forum.. they will then realise how much of a stir the M90 causes, then how much of a stir the Kaboom causes then put two and two together and come up with the ultimate JVC modern day portable...maybe it will happen..someday...!
These boom nice, but look ugly.
Why does everything these days revolve around the F**kin' Ipod...Bloody fasion accessory, they ain't even that good
Sorry, went off on one then

While items like iPods do have certain uses, I ultimately agree that there's more to life than iPods. There's just something soothing and, yes, nostalgic about watching a cassette spin in an old, classic boombox and a vinyl record spinning on a turntable. Today's electronics have no soul.
Well, if you consider the gigatube era and the way Xplods look this one is inline more with the traditional look. So if the trend continues we may see something reasonable in a few years. If the i931 were selling like plywood before a hurricane I'm sure Panasonic, JVC and others would react acordingly.
If the companies would style these like old school blasters,I could excuse the lack of battery power capability.Of course, they would also have to make the speakers attachable and provide a handle. This is what I'm waiting for.
At work, sometimes I will set up my Kenwood XD-500 shelf system I found at Goodwill for $30.00.It looks similar to this new JVC.Running my Ipod through the systems aux. jacks,it's sonic output from all ranges is enormous and amazing. As if this system doesn't natively have excessive bass (it's a real boomer!),sometimes I will even hook up my $8.00 Aiwa shelf system sub I also found at the thrift store (though my manager thinks I'm nuts!).Excuse the looks of some of the better shelf systems as they will certainly put the BOOM (and everything else)into your Ipod listening experience!
ipods are evil...
