I was born in 1986. The year the JC2000 blasted onto the scene. Smile And the year boomboxes as we know them were just 'tailing off'. Frown Oh well, I'm living an era I sadly missed, and I'm loving it! Cool

we love that era so much more because we missed it.
the "elderly" are looking backward and rewinding their best memory like old friends, the time when they were young ...etc.
but i think the best era is now because all of us nomatter old or young, are having the same hobby and sharring it with others Cool

There's not much '80s stuff (especially buildings - loads of '70s, but not much '80s) around where I am, but there's a branch of Natwest bank in the town where I live and it was built in the '80s. Cool It has never been refurbished and is almost totally original inside! It has lovely marble tiles on the floor, dark tinted glass on the front which you can see in the pic below, the doors are all original and have never been repainted, and it has some huge original chandeliers inside which you can also see in the pic. I like it so much because I love the designs of things from the time, plus the '80s as a time period is the best! Cool I love going in there, I just wish I could go back to the '80s and see this place as it was then. Unfortunately this particular bank was the centre of attention a few years ago due to a huge fraud, the details of which are in the link below.

Link.

The bank's 1980s building.

Sorry for hi-jacking your thread, Henry!

The government where? Actually, it's more the stuff from 60's through to the 80's that tends to fall victim to that here. They don't respect or value buildings from that era for some odd reason. Many surviving buildings from much earlier now tend to get listed status and therefore remain untouched, like the 1870's town hall and 1890's library we have in this town. Too much has gone from this place in the past though. It's ridiculous. Mad

It's funny you should mention that, one of my friends has a 1982 Mk1 Golf 1500 he's selling. It was near to the 1600 GTI at the time. I want it.. but haven't yet got the money to buy and keep it, or a place to park it! Frown
