That's a mighty fine collection of boomboxes right there! So, how many strange looks did you get while hauling those beasts through the hotel?
transamguy1977 - 2008-05-07 20:59

Thanks Fatdog it was a kick to get together and geek out on boomboxes.
There weren't that many people around but the glances and looks were funny from the few we walked by. I would bet none of them have seen a boombox like these in 20+ years.
all i have to say is that damn helix is huge!!!!
nice pictures guys, thanks for sharing, looks like a cool place to have a nice time.

I'll second that, it makes other large boxes look small and mid size boxes look like toys.
That is so
fellas thanks for the pics and we really need to get together sometime is great. How about all the members and nararators for a summer picnic or better yet a 4 of july picnic
Cool pics. guys!
Who is Who left to right ?

DAMN!!! Looks like we've got a theme going on here! Awsome stuff guys! You didn't mention if played them or not. You could've had the noise ordinance ticket swept under the rug with Adam on hand!
transamguy1977 - 2008-05-08 05:50
From left to right
Masterblaster , Sinister , Thefuzz
Hey Adam love your shirt.
Suits the pic very well
"Brothers of Boomboxery"
Again great pics and great to see more member gatherings
awesome ! i had one of those helixes it was so big it damn near drags the ground when i carried it lol.
SUPER YAY! I was wondering if Adam was going to sport his BoB shirt. Lookin' snazzy, Adam!!
I wish I could have been there.
If ol' UE ever moves his rear-end to North Carolina, we can do another mini-convention with me, Ed, and Freddie.

.............MASTERBLASTER84 ..........SINISTER........... THAFUZZ
my photoshop skills are rusty. i cant remember how to put type in the pix sorry.
THAFUZZ had his tazzer out ready for anything.
I Hypnotized everyone with the light show from my vela disco as well.
DUDE ! I missed this thread too ! You guys look like you had a good time, how long did you hangout ? Pump any tunes in the lobby LOL Adam would've been the first officer on the scene hahaha J/K
I personally think that get togethers are the glue that keep a community strong. This weekend I will be riding my bike with a bunch of guys in Jersey city and we are all old bike enthusiasts and we will all be riding oldschoolers. I was considering maybe taking a box with me so we can ride to some 80's jams but I'm not sure yet. I am sure of this though ! I will definitely be having a get together here over the summer for bike and boomer enthusiasts... hope some of you will join us
Great pics guys ! Do share... who brought what ?
Adam unfortunately I do not have that shirt LOL (If we ever hook up for a get together we will have to discuss our planned attire to keep from looking like Arnold and Danny on Twins)
Nice to see us members keeping th hobby alive in 'real time'. Well done lads, and thanks for sharing!
masterblaster84 - 2008-05-08 08:50
THAFUZZ:
Rising 20/20
Fisher PH-492
HELIX BEAST!!!!!!
Sinister:
Disco Lite
Toshiba RT-S931
MasterBlaster84:
JVC M90
Sharp 9494x
Some tunes were blasted from the Helix, Toshiba and the Disco Lite. The Disco Lite had us all in a trance, It is awesome to watch and I want one after seeing it in action. The Helix is just obnoxious and a must have for this reason alone. If you ever want to make a statement with a boombox the Helix (or one of it's siblings) is the one to do it with.
Hey MB enough about the Helix already ! I'm already jonzin so bad I got the shakes and my wife is like "would ja shut up already... your not getting it"
we'll see

Hahaha... I got it off of Fatdog's link. Supporting the cause. "That's how we roll"
It was great to have a meet & greet with fine chaps. Unfortunaltey, we only had a few hours, but we had a great time talking and sharing stories, etc. A nearby park was tempting, but too crazy to fight the traffic to get there and we'd get swarmed at the park by admirers. I'd have to step in and "regulate". It was my first chance to meet fellow S2Gers and see some of these beautiful boxes they brought. Sin brought that super looking Toshiba with wireless remote and the hypnotizing Disco
. MB, brought the Sharp 9494 & M90. I brought the Rising, 492 & King Kong. They now are tempted to go for Autobot's Kong (plug for you Auto
). I too would love to have another King Kong. These boxes Sin & MB brought sounded so great. Just the quality is impressive. We did get some strange looks and smiles from passersby in the hotel. It was cool. I cranked them carefully so as not to get thrown out or get the dang cops called on us. I would really like to attend a bigger meet & greet soon. It was really nice to hera these great guys' stories and share the passion for this hobby. Thanks to Sin (with his cool chops) and MB for driving over to see me. I shot a short video and will try to post it soon.

Adam, my camera took some great pics when it focused correctly. About 66% of my pics are blurry so that's the last straw with that camera, I'm going to sell it and get a new point and shoot. I'm a little ticked at myself for not bringing my DSLR, I won't make that mistake again.
At least I have a few good pics and some of the important ones at that. The two shots of you with the Helix hoisted turned out blurry or I would have posted one, crap!

OK just one more plug. The Helix is the freakin king of in your face I'll crush em all impressions. What cracked me up was they actually put rollers on the bottom of the box, what does that say?
Great pics, great idea on this side of the pond! The UK boys need to step up now!
heres one with the helix next to the M90
That Wheely makes the M90 look like a midget!

And believe it or not it thumps out the bass with those 10's like its nothing
masterblaster84 - 2008-05-08 17:27
Frank, you are right on. Watching those incredibly deep set 10's pound was a show in itself.
Oh I missed this thread! How cool - first a meeting in Germany and now USA - who's next? And most important - where's alcohol in that picture????

I saw a call for a UK get together, could that be next?
Drinks would have been a nice touch but we only had a few hours then we all had to drive home and with the plastic passengers we had who could risk it?
Vladi I like your new Avatar, nice job!
Thanks Don!
Ya, things we do for our *plastic passengers*
Those are some really cool pics!!
I didn't realise the Helix is
that much bigger than the M90!
Incredible!!

It would almost certainly drag on the ground if I carried it, I'm not very tall!
How much does it weigh in Kilos?

The Helix - 12 Kilos w/o the 10 D batteries. The 492 - 14.8 Kilos w/o the 10 D batteries.

Thanks Tim. Hey, I still have those 8" PH490 woofers packed for you. You still want them?

The same as a GF-777. Heavier than I thought considering the black plastic look. To be fair though, it is huge!
Damn, that Fisher's HEAVY!!
14.8 kg WOW!
...that's a thing, how much does an M90 weigh? I've never wondered until now. It's so I can prepare myself - I may walk home from the bootsale with one at some point!

I know.
But some big cheap boxes don't weigh as much as much smaller, but better quality boxes.
masterblaster84 - 2008-05-12 09:51
I also expected it to be a big, empty, light weight box but was not only shocked by it's size but it's weight as well.
